Resident normie on this site.

  • Ready Player One was a curse, not a novel.

  • Whoa. This guy rules. Looking at his whole page now.

  • The communal lathe of heaven should be around here somewhere if you want to give that a go.

  • Facts don't care about your feelings. They do however, care about mine and will bend to their benefit.

  • Him going in on Ezra Klein, who I remember being a friend of his at some point, is pretty satisfying in particular.

  • Basically Jet Set Radio, but you are a train is a pretty cool concept.

  • If this plays like 3 Houses in addition to the obvious plot connection, I'm in. Will probably sell me a Switch 2. I wasn't super impressed with Engage and thought it was a step back.

  • I would say this is the book that took me from somewhat well read, well meaning liberal that supported welfare and the New Deal and what not to full fledged leftist. It's a bit of a doorstopper, but it's so good. Bullshit Jobs might be better for a more casual liberal, if nothing else because it's shorter, but it also speaks in more readily observable terms rather than the more academic feel of Debt.

  • The Dispossessed by Ursula K Le Guin.

  • Here I go running through a wall again.

  • Sorry to Nick Mullen, you've been replaced as President of the DSA apparently.

  • Bro looks like a halloween mask of himself.

  • Watching the Monroe bot PSA from Futurama happen in real time with the richest man in the world.

  • I don’t have anything specific, but I know most libraries have free access to a lot of paid stuff that may be worth checking out. That way you don’t have to navigate YouTube/ads/etc. my local library has online resources for everything from art to language learning.

  • It was fine. I love the derpy tiger. The rest I could give or take. My kid liked it anyway, which is the target audience.

  • I fucking Anakin meme'd myself on this one the moment I read the sub-headline.

"Trump’s controversial homelessness solution? Blue states have done it for years."

"And both are in the wrong, right?"

"Some find it brutal. But if done the right way, for the right people, it can work."

    "..."

  • Well, in many ways, brutalism never left, sir. It's always offered the same high-quality buildings at aesthetically pleasing designs.

  • The Staten Island Ferry is free and gives a fairly good view of both the Statue of Liberty and the south side of Manhattan, if that sounds appealing at all. Many people do this just for the sights, so you can basically follow the waves of humanity as they depart and go right back on the next ferry.

The High Line is a very cool urban park built on top of an old elevated railway and is free to enter and exit at your leisure. The north end of it is right by Vessel, which is a cool bit of architecture.

The first floor of the Whitney Museum is free as well. And The Bronx Zoo is free on Wednesdays.
