If this plays like 3 Houses in addition to the obvious plot connection, I'm in. Will probably sell me a Switch 2. I wasn't super impressed with Engage and thought it was a step back.
I would say this is the book that took me from somewhat well read, well meaning liberal that supported welfare and the New Deal and what not to full fledged leftist. It's a bit of a doorstopper, but it's so good. Bullshit Jobs might be better for a more casual liberal, if nothing else because it's shorter, but it also speaks in more readily observable terms rather than the more academic feel of Debt.
I don’t have anything specific, but I know most libraries have free access to a lot of paid stuff that may be worth checking out. That way you don’t have to navigate YouTube/ads/etc. my local library has online resources for everything from art to language learning.
The Staten Island Ferry is free and gives a fairly good view of both the Statue of Liberty and the south side of Manhattan, if that sounds appealing at all. Many people do this just for the sights, so you can basically follow the waves of humanity as they depart and go right back on the next ferry.
The High Line is a very cool urban park built on top of an old elevated railway and is free to enter and exit at your leisure. The north end of it is right by Vessel, which is a cool bit of architecture.
The first floor of the Whitney Museum is free as well. And The Bronx Zoo is free on Wednesdays.
The actual article is even more funny. Apparently some guy took the ADL webpage for Christian Identity, an anti-semitic hate group, and just clipped off a screen shot of just the words "Christian Identity" being filled under "Extremism, Hate and Terrorism" and Musk 100% took the bait. https://gizmodo.com/the-adl-defended-elon-musks-awkward-gesture-now-he-calls-it-a-hate-group-2000665034
