  • Try asking DeepSeek something about Xi Jinping. "Sorry, it's beyond my current scope' :-) Wondering why even it cannot cite his official party biography :-)

  • They do very often, not every time but they do. I faced it several times so I did finish my subscriptions (both youtube music and youtube premium)

  • They force paying customers ( yt music premium & yt premium ) to disable ad blockers, too. Why? If I accordingly to the contract shouldn't get any ads why they would need to punish for blocking ads which shouldn't exist :-)?

  • Most podcasts do have rss feeds ( that's how Google podcasts did subscribe them). So find your podcast and subscribe him in f e fresh rss. You can open it in either brave ( background playing ) or vlc

  • Emails can be simple - mine is $firstName@$lastName.me Tbh phone numbers are quite long and if people can't remember 4 digital pin... Still you can generate qr code mailto: links

  • I still believe that mailing lists are the best technology which has been both decentralized in the meaning of the identity ( which you can verify with gpg ) and storage. While I like many other things like simplex, lemmy, to some extent matrix and so on, still mailing lists rock nowadays ( note: please consider 2 criterias i meant - distributed identity and storage)

  • I've once bought lifetime service - couchsurfing. It didn't stick foe less than 1 year. I have second life time account for 2600 magazine but still I'm skeptical to "life time" promotions

  • I think there needs be car 2 car ( or even car 2 human f.e. in smartphones and wearables ) introduced before self driving cars is capable to exist. Of course until real AI is introduced. We're nowhere near the human capable ai

  • Until you forget changing 6 digit pin of your credit card before you travel to the country which accepts 4 digit normally. You're f..d, the only way is to get call your family to make moneygram / western union transfer (or if you can do make such an order on your own). If you wonder which country I live, it's the same country which has one of the highest banknotes 1000 CHF.

  • It's funny because actually you can receive mails pretty much everywhere without giving an actual address. P.O boxes and post restante. Only banks keep enforcing residential addresses as it was a guarantee of having lack of identity frauds.

  • So I think good luck for foss movement. Hopefully, forking that project won't be illegal because otherwise foss will die

  • But where do you have information that it was russian state? There are many state actors capable of doing this. Just saying

  • Actually I'm interested how it looks legally ( it somebody cares about it at all ). Whether the Russian contributors could ask to revert their changes as they most likely never signed the contract to transfer their code copyrights. For sure it will have a big impact on foss because if you have at least one American and Russian contributors, you may get in the biggest shitshow. Additionally if I was considering now to become a contributors, I'd be wondering if it's worthy at all to work for free and then to be banned no thanks for whole free work years

  • They are not exactly bribes. Rather undisclosed preferential consulting jobs or hiring promises. It's quite easy to follow money in bribes. It's somehow so: after they finish politics careers, they get hired as highly paid consultants for their preferential treatment when they were politics

  • Lol, good that you pointed it out. The only real way is apparently only self hosting foss

  • We have still Anna's archive, scihub, libgen and old fashion traditional libraries ( including the national ). National libraries won't disappear in the nearest years, maybe will rotten due to defunding but still they will exist

  • Nothing interesting for 99% population. Tech blogging is the hardest stuff and most tech youtubers pretty much stopped contributing. What's the point of sharing knowledge if any gamer on twitch has bigger audience than you maybe 200 - 300 live watchers and it's the a good number of viewers for a very well known polish security researcher ( ex Google ). So you know why social media is going shit
