  • I have been going to protests for decades and have never heard it. I don't think it's as widespread as you are assuming.

  • I don't even know what song people are talking about, and I don't think anyone I know would know either...

  • I was wondering why he looked so familiar. Thank you.

  • Yeah like why do I need someone else's server to tell me what I'm allowed to do with my own media server?

  • I think you overestimated my ability to recognize things from the ever-accelerating cycle of pop culture

  • Remember kids, don't take candy from strangers in vans, even (especially) if they say they're in a position of authority

  • On Firefox I have it set to always reopen my previous tabs and that works a lot more reliably

  • When people say "unused RAM is wasted RAM" I want to kick something

  • Maybe he's just suddenly become a big typography fan /joking

  • The RAM thing (and it getting slow over time) is due to the default way it handles inactive tabs. Mozilla decided that users would probably prefer to have tabs be fast when switching between them, so they are kept "active" in RAM for basically ever. This was not the case back when RAM was considered a scarce resource.

I installed an extension to automatically unload tabs after a certain period of inactivity and RAM usage is no longer a problem. As of the most recent update you can also unload tabs manually natively.

As for the ads, AI, etc, all of that can be turned off, and generally only has to be turned off once. Though you may want to look into a fork that does this for you, like LibreWolf.

  • There are also cell phone bans coming into place in places that don't have a culture of school shootings. My understanding is that they are generally considered disruptive. I was surprised to learn that they had ever been allowed; when I was in school there was a blanket ban on electronic devices regardless of whether or not they could communicate or record audio-video.

  • Not to mention the animal murder

  • Why is that list of links sorted by the length of the descriptive text?? arghhhh

  • Can't wait for the antitrust trial thing

  • certified Android devices

so if I haven't had a "normal" ROM in 15 years, I can continue on as normal?

  • Liberals are so homophobic. Even the ones who think they're progressive. Every time a conservative does something, liberals bring out their list of classics:

    • "haha this homophobic conservative is probably a self-hating closeted gay in denial!" (as if only gay people can be homophobic??)
    • "I will now depict my enemies as gay lovers. This isn't implying they're lesser because they're gay, I swear I'm just doing it because they would hate to see themselves depicted like this!!"
    • As previous, but depicting their enemies in drag
    • The long list of put-downs that have to do with performing sex acts ("suck [person]'s dick", "kiss [person]'s ass", etc) that generally imply someone is bad because they're the submissive one in the invoked sex act

    And many more!

  • I looked once and there were at least four posts on the first page that were some variation of "I haven't pooped in two weeks, is this normal?"

  • Even if they were stealing food, what is the harm in letting food come into Gaza? What is Hamas going to do with a bunch of food, throw it at IOF troops?
