  • This feels super click-baity. According to the comments it's not money laundering related, but an actual laundary service for soiled currency.

  • I don't think it's due to frustration. Like how a caring parent observes their child's mental level and caters to that. Pure love and the hope to spark joy in new things. Also, yuuuuuuck.

  • It's kinda funny as how it's first like: Windows, Apple and Linux are your choices for home. If you choose the right one, you realize it was not a destination, merely a gateway to a plethora of systems, many fine-tuned for the nichest of needs.

My new hobby is complaining about my trials on Linux to those winfriends who I think will switch in the foreseeable future. My rational is that sharing my happiness comes off as gloating and as soon as they show an inkling of willingness, I'll just point to what I said and tell them that's the type of shit you deal with and can maybe find listening ears for the benefits at that point.

Because I am in a safe space: FOSS is the closest thing I find to actual love that I can get from a non-living interaction. Contrasted in the harsh light of freemium every keystroke for the commons is sacred.

  • But it is modern! We already have germ theory, we know about inoculation and have a hazy idea that our endocrine system is very important. And yes, here is where all your words ring true.

I used to be way more sceptical towards any brain-chemistry-tampering compound, as I prejudged doctors to behave as they are next to an assembly line, prescribing chemicals based on archaic formulas. I'd hate to be stuck in a half-zen state married to some foreign chemistry with myriads of side effects. That is what I was seeing.

Then a friend had a pretty graceful mental breakdown. He couldn't sleep and he institutionalized himself farely quickly. Rivotril or something along those lines let him sleep. And then he was put on antidepressants (seratonin reuptake inhibitors , if I'm not mistaken, which was a huge bogeyman for me), was gliding on them for about a month or so, then weened off. I was seriously surprised that such an episode can be handled so well and so quickly without any residual medicating.

I think they didn't fix the underlying issues, but were able to unlock a cramp. I believe my friend has a fresh chance to figure out what brought him to that type of collapse and adjust his life accordingly.

All this said, even with the shittiest medications, it can definitely be worth being locked into some medicine than being a pool of dysfunction lying on the floor or causing major harm to your loved ones. I mean a good ayahuasca session gets a person pretty far, but not everything can be psychosomatic.

You are right to judge, but better off appreciating how far we come. Also thank you for expressing your opinion on it. I almost came in with an 'acktchually' after reading the comic, even though I agree and it resonates, it's such a delicate topic. I guess you got dosed with my contrarianism instead of OP!

  • Is this some kinda Brave browser integration? Newpipe hasn't served me up any ads yet, so you got me wondering what your version does.

  • I do understand the need to keep infrastructure within EU, but it is hard to argue against using the supernova that is South Korea to build it.

Funny thing is that at the moment they are as stuck as Hungarians with their Russian build.

  • Where were you for the last decade? I'd think tiktok is starting to wind down by now, but me and my shaking stick wouldn't know that.

  • No grape lady? Or did I miss it?

  • There's no guarantee anyone on there (or here) is a real person or genuine.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a baked-in feature of meatspace either. I'm a fan of solipsism and Last Thursdayism personally. Also propaganda posters.

The CMV sub reeked of bot/troll/farmer activity, much like the amitheasshole threads. I guess it can be tough to recognize if you weren't there to see the transition from authentic posting to justice/rage bait.

We're still in the uncanny valley, but it seems that we're climbing out of it. I'm already being 'tricked' left and right by near perfect voice ai and tinkered with image gen. What happens when robots pass the imitation game?

  • 'Where's mama?'

  • Wouldn't it be 'simple' with hall effect sensors? Those seem to be pretty commonplace nowadays.

  • I really dig your stance, support developers where you can. How do you feel about TV shows though? Does the knowledge that most shows use product placement (baked in ads) alleviate entitlement in this case?

  • Yeah, but providing that push at the wrong time... Maybe I just presented it the wrong way. I think there was some snootiness to how I advocated it. Like I knew more than them, which might be the case.. but it's still alienating.

Maybe we can wait until they ask.

  • Man, Hungary has already implemented this law with the reduction of gathering rights. The government was campaigning along the lines of speeding past Europe... I guess they weren't lying.

I guess I am happy to see other countries facing similar threats, if only to realize that many Hungarians are just people like them, barely able to do anything in the face of such coordinated attacks.

In Hungary it is more about 'inside enemies' than weeding out migrants. That propaganda doesn't work anymore, because the government needs to bring in extra workers from the far east, as nobody local is willing to work for such wages.

Stay on your toes and place your hate in the right place, if you need to hang onto it. They make it sound nationalistic, but I think it's just plain old class war.

  • Just put on some moosic.

  • I will copyright some schematics so everyone can enjoy the thrill of piracy to really drive the point home.

  • Naw, you're right. There are still ways to get a decent windows experience, but it will fall to the domain of power users.

I personally see MS not really caring about their windows users. With more than enough revenue from enterprise to keep them going for decades, they will lose grip on gamers and older casual users, who remember windows before the marketplace and preinstalled adware.

With all the flavors of Linux (and a proper walled garden like Apple), I'm thinking Windows will follow Skype in the next decade or so.
