Outer Wilds has a very elegant diagetic tutorial in the form of a museum and, well, a training ground, whole game is really a multi layered tutorial with scaling level of complexity.
But yes, you get the gist of it. Every company is somewhat unique in the way they may or may not be able to handle such an event.
"I feel sad" will get you in trouble with most companies of earth."They just put down my dog" will find some companies more willing to accept that as a reasonable motive to take a day off."I feel sick" will let you to stay home in most places / legislations.
I wouldn't categorize it as a day where you call in saying "I feel sad" and get a day off. I call it the day you call in saying "They just put down my dog" and get a day off.
I think Warcraft III, it built a certain mixture of gameplay and lore that one way of another shaped all the games I regrettably sunk way too many hours into:
World of Warcraft
League of Legends
Dota
I would say Shufflepack which made me into a kid that wanted to played videogames all the time, but I feel that has not "influenced" me much, and any other title would have had the same effect.
