  • My guy, you have no idea what you're talking about. You realize SAE hasn't ratified a standard yet and it's still being developed and refined by participants. Right? RIGHT?? I mean, you would if you actually purchased it instead of linking to the page. Why make things up when your answer could be "I don't know"? You aren't doing a service to anyone here, anybody that even accidentally clicked my links above saw that in may of 2024, the tense was future in their blog posts. They can see that SAE has not ratified a standard yet by clicking on the J3400 page.

    Why lie?

  • So you don't understand what 3 phase means, which is totally okay. Just say that instead of making up an incorrect answer. Saying "powered by at least a part" isn't three phase, that would be single, two, maybe split-phase like normal North American domestic power.

Which is what they clearly state in multiple sources

The other issue you have here is that J1772 is rated for 300v, just like J3400 is rated for 300v. It's a software choice, and an EV plus connector that support increasing voltage don't need a new connector. In fact, adding 277v support to J3400 will require J1772 support anyway. J3400 is simply J1772 with a new form factor proposed- same as it has always been. But it combines the DC pins from Combo 1 into the existing J1772 / J3400 pins.

I am not sure I understanding you correctly, you wanted them to feed all 3 phases to charging EVs?

    Yes.

    Batteries are DC

What does this have to do with anything? You're already converting split phase AC into DC, using 3 phase (already done in this place called Europe, BTW) delivers more power at the same amperage.

sticking a heavy 3-phase to DC converter in the car?

Yes. Again, see all of Europe.

  • Well it's odd they're claiming they're going to in a future tense. I welcome your puctures of NACS equipped chargers, though, since NACS isn't even a standard yet.

  • Nope, EVGo plans to deploy the connector, but since the standard isn't ratified yet, they aren't deploying the connector yet. I find their website helpful to determine whether this is a future plan or a current reality.

Sorta easy to find this information.

  • Good luck getting ahold of the right person at Tesla in the first week, or getting them to do anything. Tesla's phone support is the only thing worse than Tesla's service centers.

  • No it doesn't. NACS is the two power pin, pilot, and proximity. No three phase is supported. You may want to actually buy the spec like I have before making things up like this.

  • Which network has their chargers equipped with NACS handles besides Tesla, and is currently deploying them.

  • No other network uses the connector currently.

  • NACS connector is dog shit, and still uses the CCS communication protocol. If we were going to change the whole industry, we should have changed to something that offered 3 phase power as an option. But the lemmings took what they perceived as the easy option.

They fucked around and now they're going to find out.

  • To rip off investors. If they pretend to be on the same hype train as everyone else, and lie about what their product does, there's a chance some idiot will give them more money.

  • No we don't.

  • 2026 now? Just going to sweep those previous predictions under the rug and pretend they never said it, I guess.

  • The main rollout was only supposed to start this year. The federal plan was pretty clear about that. States published their plans, fed approved and distributed money. Then bids came to states and are being approved.

WTF is the question? Hell, my tiny state is already beginning construction on three sites which is perfectly on schedule from the plan proposed two years ago.

  • I told you how to find them so you wouldn't have to bitch about my cherry picking. I can't help if you'd rather bury your head in the sand, and it makes no difference to me what you believe.

  • It’s the Pravda of the VC-centric tech scene and has been for a very very long time.

At least someone else gets it.

  • I'd suggest they're just as wrong about programming languages and maths as any other topic.

  • You can google for cloudflare issues ranging from providing hosting for actual nazi sites to extorting customers by threatening the exact scenario se saw in this blog post. Feel free to google "cloudflare account suspended" to see many posts about people having not just DDoS mitigation disabled, but everything related to an account deleted and disabled. Many of those people had the audacity to, get this, rely on DDoS protection! The nerve, right?

  • Not just "this case", there's been countless cases like this with CF.

  • Pro tip: Don't waste your time over there.
