  • Libertarian has two different meanings, depending on who you talk two.

In the modern day, and unless they qualify it, "libertarianism = anarcho-capitalism".

Classical libertarianism (sometimes left libertarianism, or libertarian socialism) is more akin to anarcho-syndicalism. Advocacy for ownership of the means of production via trade unions and the like, with the goal of obsoleting the state and capitalism, that kinda thing.

EDIT: Also, capital-L "Liberalism" in the US is more than a little bit of a departure from liberalism. It's mostly evolved into a meaningless pejorative the far right uses against the center-left (and when I say that, I'm talking about center-left from an American perspective, so really more center-right)

  • Aw. I hate you too. ♥️

  • "I Can't Believe It's Not Russia!"

  • They're all intent on just derailing the conversation!

  • I think this is the primary hitch.

Personally, if there was a service like Bluesky that let you choose your algorithm instead of just being purely chronological, I would jump on that very fast. That's what Bluesky's killer feature is, imo.

Apart from, y'know, not being the hellsite that is Twitter.

  • I imagine Valve would give them a pretty strong slap on the back of the head if they didn't.

  • 🇺🇸 DO IT AGAIN, UNCLE BILLY 🇺🇸

  • Woomy!

  • I'm wondering if that's more for legal reasons than for technical ones. Then again, I'm not a lawyer, and you could probably get around it by directly using the AT Protocol.

  • Maybe one-way trip to Pluto instead?

  • Perhaps the design could be altered.

I know the appeal of a guillotine is that it's fairly simple, but if we're gonna scale it up for maximal decapitating efficiency, then I feel like we can afford to have a motor with some horsepower lift the blade. Maybe two to make keeping both sides of the blade even easier.

  • Wouldn't a heavy blade be a good thing? So you can ensure a clean cut on the way down?

  • And forest's worth of hickory wood.

  • re. Double posting, I think that was Jerboa being fucky when I posted my reply

heckin internet making me look silly

  • My issue wasn't with calling Trump a Nazi (I find that assessment correct), but calling them both Nazis. Yes, the rightward shift is concerning, but the false equivalence put up here understates Trump's danger and heavily overstates Harris's.
