  • Because the concept of federation is still impenetrable to a layperson

  • The best way to end tipping culture is to unionise hospitality workers. As customers, what we need to do is encourage and support working class solidarity, talk loudly about our support for unions, encourage employees to organise, all that kind of stuff.

  • Don’t get me wrong here, I’m totally with you, I’m opposed to violence just as you are. I just extend my opposition to violence a bit further, including violence inflicted by states. I don’t want you to change your opposition to violence, I think that’s great. I’m just asking you to consider whether your exemptions given to states engaging in military conflicts is actually justified

  • Yeah I got sick of buying the little packets and just ended up buying a bottle of 500 from the US. Pain in the fucking ass

  • I understand where you’re coming from, but if you dig deeper into the problem, I think that it becomes clearer and clearer that social media is more of a symptom than the cause of the problem. The real issue is that people are becoming more and more aware that the system is failing them - wages are stagnant but prices are soaring, protections against the worst excesses of corporations are eroding, climate change is causing people to lose their homes and livelihoods…

People are desperate for someone to blame and for an alternative. Fascism offers easy answers that let people blame some “others” but just makes things worse. Leftists have uncomfortable answers that require you to admit your complicity in the system before you can begin to dismantle it.

  • But haven’t you seen countless cases of examples where those strict rules for war have been completely ignored? Russia is just ignoring them completely in Ukraine, Israel is just straight-up conducting a genocide and no western country gives a shit apparently, for the US there are countless cases of shit like the My Lai massacre or the US sponsorships of terrorist organisations in South America…

States are just big systems that exist to give people a monopoly on violence.

  • They’re lying to themselves. Probably some small part of them cares about supporting creators, but it’s not their main motivation.

  • Dude, who even cares if it’s better? Why would you ever willingly give Microsoft even 1% of a chance to yet again gain some market share that they can abuse?

Fuck Edge, and fuck Chromium, too. Librewolf or Firefox, accept no lesser browsers.

  • Sideload the uYou+Extras app on your iPhone and then just use AirPlay to watch youtube videos on apple TV. Gets around adverts 99% of the time. Sometimes one will slip through, just close the video and reopen it and it’ll not have an advert anymore.

  • I have the utmost sympathy for you and your friends and I hope you’re all okay, and I want to send you as much of my love and support as I can. I wish you all nothing but the best and I hope the world turns. Stay strong, stay hopeful, and remember who the true enemy is, the ruling class, the billionaires, the media, the politicians who sold our future for $$$.

  • I think that if Kamala had been elected, then we would have had four more years of things getting worse under neoliberalism, before getting a fascist in 2028. america is kind of a fascist country, it’s just now that the american people are experiencing it for themselves rather than just subjecting it on others

  • I mean, yeah. Why are people even bothering with piracy on regular, HTTP, web sites? Of course it’ll get taken down, and legal action taken against the owner.

We need to teach the younger generations how to torrent shit

  • Cloudflare will proxy DNS requests as well, by the way, so I’m not sure how you would get the IP address if all of their host names are proxied through Cloudflare

  • So I completely understand why people would feel this way, given that Trump won, it must stand to reason that people voted for him more, right? Except that isn’t the case. Trump got fewer votes this election than the last one.

Let me also just add here: Fuck Trump, fuck the GOP, fuck all of the fascists that supported and voted for him. I wish that Hell was real so that they could all go there.

But the reason he won isn’t because people voted for him more, it’s because Kamala’s platform didn’t inspire democrat voters to actually go and vote for her.

You could totally say that in the two party system, choosing not to vote is the same as voting for Trump, but I think that’s not true - a large number of people who voted Biden but didn’t vote Kamala are likely to be opposed to Trump and are likely to participate in protests, activist action and organising against fascism.

You may not understand why someone would be motivated to participate in activism, but not motivated to vote - and I completely understand that too. People who are into electoral politics don’t really grasp how others feel about it.

There are a number of reasons why that could be, but I would say that probably chief among them are the fact that she represented a status quo rather than a shift towards socialism, and because she refused to take a firm position against the ongoing genocide in Gaza

Of course, you’re free to believe as you wish, and I’m not trying to change your mind really - I’m just trying to add a bit of nuance and help explain what happened.

  • They look like kids to me, not disparaging them at all, it’s just that I find it weird that his mind went to sex stuff

  • To be fair, it was probably some hardware issue. I had endless problems with my old Nvidia GTX 580 which I would have been using at the time. And yeah, it was quite a while ago :P

  • Thanks for your comment, but I’m a little confused - it’s very easy for nuance to get lost in online comments like this.

Are you saying that you are a supporter of absolute free speech, but you also support banning of certain clothing items, such as religious face coverings?

Or are you saying that you support current prohibitions against hate speech, but you wouldn’t support extending those laws, because you’re against censorship and that would be overstepping your personal red lines?

It seems to me that there is something mutually contradictory in there, but it’s very possible that I am misunderstanding you. To be clear, I’m not criticising you and I’m not interested in arguing or debating with you, I’m just trying to understand. I believe you should be entitled to believe what you want, and that you should be allowed to express your opinion. Personally, what I do have a problem with is online media platforms massively amplifying hateful extremist views to generate engagement.

Hope that makes sense! Feel free to ignore this comment if you don’t want to reply, and I wish you a pleasant day!

  • I hear you, I just think that comparing religious ideology to other forms of deeply held ideology is a distinction without a difference. Some of the most horrific acts that humanity has ever committed have been done by comparatively secular groups - just look at the 20th century for examples of that.

We’re living through a period where far-right fascism is ascendant and white supremacy is being normalised. Corporations and billionaires have never held more power than they do currently.

I just feel like a lot of anti-religious sentiment is basically a distraction, so that we get so caught up in arguing about it that we don’t recognise the true threat, our real enemy - the rich bastards who are robbing us all blind, murdering countless innocent people, destroying the climate and the environment.
