  • Is it though? Like who was promised anything for doing open source software development. It's like volunteering at the soup kitchen. Yeah you're not going to get paid and people are going to eat and leave. That's kind of the point.

  • Yeah, while we are at it. Everything sucks compared to the starship enterprise. You can't beat photon torpedoes and shields. All current military technology sucks.

  • A probably a bit political for this topic, but most companies are allowed to lie about most things. Only a few things that they're not allowed to lie about.

  • I see where you are coming from, but I don't buy it. I think we can sustain the our current level of population and pollute less in a sustainable manner.

Also, the laws required to reduce the population would really cut into happiness. And given the current political climate would probably be circumvented by the rich and used against the poor.

  • Ok, that makes sense to me. So you would support government regulations on companies to prevent them from making the climate worse right?

  • The average person spends most of their time at work where they don't control how environmentally friendly they are.

  • For the average person, yes, but that's nothing compared to what a single stroke of a CEO's pen can do.

  • Skill issue. /troll don't take the bait

  • Humanity: Let's make a bunch of stories about how space capitalism has some really bad outcomes.

Also Humanity: That sound great! let's do that!

  • Why don't you just take a day and re-read your reply and see if it still makes sense to you in the context of our conversation.

  • You: "I smell great!"

Me: "I think you smell bad"

You: "You think an aspect of me is bad, this must mean you think everything about me is bad. You must hate me the most"

Me: "No.... you just need to take a shower."

You: "I can't see how telling me that I am smelly doesn't mean you hate me."

I don't what to tell you, it's not that hard to get.

  • The natural reactions of everyone to everything are bad

All of them? Some of them? How much humanity will be left if we get rid of everything that doesn't fit into the system?

You’re not going to get to your idea of a good system by tearing the current one down, ever.

I never implied I was intending to tear down the system. Well as long as it remains democratic anyways. A system that can't change has a shelf life one way or another.

All I implied is that the current system isn't good. Not that small changes couldn't make it better.

  • "The system isn't bad, it's just that the natural reactions of everyone in the system are wrong"

Yeah, that is a sign of a bad system. If it only works for 1% of the people in it, you can't say it is generally a good system.

A good and robust system would deal with the bumpy parts of life. Including human stupidity and our ability to easily fall for propaganda.

  • See, this is why you guys are a pain to have any kind of discussion with. Even if there is a good point somewhere in your ideology, no one can get to it because they have to get past all the non-issue hills you are all willing to die on for no reason.

Why should any one take you seriously if you can't admit that you, along with everyone else, virtue signals? Should I expect more reasonable arguments from you once we start talking though your other points? My bet is no.

Maybe one day I will meet someone who can have a discussion like a grown up and I will understand your side to this. Until then, I will have to assume all you guys are just idiots.

I see no further value in discussing this with you. I wish you luck on your journey.

  • Tell him it's not going to happen. It's okay if it doesn't. The important part is he tried.

  • Wow, this reply seems like it is the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

Are you sure you're also not virtue signaling? I think it's okay if you are. Most people do it (The people who don't, don't have any point to make).

  • Great! Would you agree then that you are also virtue signaling by stating that you didn't vote for Harris?

  • Just be aware that people might be into 4B for the purpose of man-hating. A lot of times man-hating extends to transphobia.

    The ideological basis is strong.

  • Please don’t take my response to you in a negative manner I’m just pointing out what you did. You are free to self reflect on it however you wish. If your position has merit it can stand on its own without resorting to virtue signalling.

Ok, I found this soo funny. I don't know if you know that your doing it, but all your replies to me have been oozing with contempt. Are you for real? Of course I am taking your posts in a negative manner. How would anyone not?

    That is besides the point.

by definition. virtue signalling is where a person makes statements that identifies them as part of the ‘group’ they are communicating with in order to make unacceptable actions acceptable.

When I google "virtue signaling definition" this is the definition I get "the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue."

Do my actions/words still apply? If so, how?
