I think it's funny that some Lemmy users get upset about censoring. In real life I try not to swear much, so that when I do it's more impactful. Also censoring the word still gets the meaning across.
Starbucks drive throughs are hell - one I used to drive by would have a line that backed out into the street every morning. Like probably 20 cars long, every day. I just don't get it.
My grandfather was one of these self-absorbed narcissistic professors who had multiple affairs with students over the years as well. I think academia is just one of those domains that attracts this type of person.
I have not had much luck with dating apps, so a friend and I attended a local speed dating event when we turned 30. Apparently it was advertised on a dating app and is run by a company that does events for singles.
Anyway it was exactly like you described - a series of awkward interviews with strangers I didn't click with, some of whom tuned out after a couple of minutes and you could tell they were just waiting for the next person. Many were people who had just moved to the state/country.
Any other option for meeting people would probably be better than attending a speed dating event imo

This is a great way to penalize these far-right grifters. Not only are they prevented from making money on their speaking tour, but they are publicly lambasted and restricted in travel, and there's nothing they can do about it.
