  • The lessons from Russia is attrition but I am not exactly sure how that would work here. I have read elsewhere that the US advantage would be to finish quickly and that it would be in Iran's interest to drag it out at multiple chokepoints.

  • I really wish these non-marxist but still anti-imperialist countries could disavow their liberal brainworms and implement a more centralised planned economy (can always revert to an "NEP" later) with guaranteed jobs/housing/sustinance and all hands on deck for food, medicine and war tech development.

  • I do like this response very much (even more than the one I gave)

Got any book recommendations on the formation of states please?

  • We evolved to what we did because of our ability to cooperate (or rather there were selective pressures where this ability was considered advantageous) - it is the social structures, generational knowledge passed down and the cognitive abilities including language, empathy etc that evolved with it that allowed us to climb the top of the so called food chain. The selective pressure (in the evolution of human beings) is vastly in favour of cooperation. This is also evident in multiple aspects of nature; heck even the process of evolving from unicellular to multicellular organisms.

This is basic biology and therefore he is lying. He is essentially talking about "survival of the fittest" the way layman may talk about it, not how the scientific discipline of biology would actually consider it.

All life forms could be considered a spectrum from cooperative cells to malignant tumours and to only consider one end of the spectrum and not the other especially if it is your discipline isn't just wilfully ignorant; it is straight up fraudulent.

This is also ignoring the fact whether being "natural" is a good in itself. Is ebola or childhood retinal blastoma "good" because they are natural?

Book recommendation: The Dialectical Biologist by Levin and Lewontin.

(I would not necessarily argue with him unless you want to make clear you're not going to deal with his nonsense. He is clearly not speaking in good faith. Like why the fuck did he study biology; to pass witness on the world as is and not to alter it anyway given the immortal goodness of its naturalness? Some Nietzschean BS.)

I would also internalise this article - it explains the birth of the modern West and how capitalism takes credit for socialist pressures without which there is no development as we know it (as this is really the subtext he was alluding to):

Furthermore, pointing out that Einstein considered himself socialist usually causes some congitive dissonance to these STEM right wingers:

  • Interesting read; thanks for the share!

  • Oh London is plenty demonised in the press as "Londonistan" because of all the brown folks there and the mayor has a muslim background.

  • That first minister is a fucking cowardly gobshite piece of work which is why he got the job in the first place.

Whenever someone responds with apparent legalism in defense of the indefensible the reply to that should be why their first response was not that the law should be changed instead. Hiding behind legalism means you agree with that interpretation of the law and too cowardly to hoist your fascist flag/flag of subservience instead.

  • According to the New York Times, the United States has passed three basic conditions to Iran: the complete cessation of uranium enrichment, the limitation of ballistic missile capacity, and the discontinuation of support for the proxy forces in the region, especially Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthies... (machine translation)

And if Iran were to heed them the next day they will get strikes anyway (Libya-style). It's almost as if the US is telling Iran what it should not do instead.

  • And watch a bunch of "western marxists" denigrate China when that happens.

  • It's just detente because their hands were forced; it will be made clear with countries who do make better trade relations with China but will double down on fascism domestically.

  • I think this is a logical conclusion if one believes "brainwashing" on mass is a thing for an explanation of the bourgoisie proleteriat; it will lead to a biolgical determinist rationale for resistance to being "unbrainwashed" and then it's a short hop from that to eugenicism echoing essentially fascist sentiments.

Instead consider a more dialectical materialist take:

    https://redsails.org/masses-elites-and-rebels/

Ie narratives as a social license for bigotry along imperialist and settler colonial lines because at some level that individual benefits from those material conditions. The material always come before the idea.

(There's all sorts of other problems with yugopnik's take - like folks with learning difficulties who don't lean right wing, removing the agency of the fascist, using ablism to explain fascism, where these Nietzschean takes of the untermenschen comes from, mechanical vs dialectical materialism etc etc)

  • But what about all the NHS clapping and flag hoisting. Oh it's still a shithole just now being more open against murder of brown and disabled folks. Being a westerner is a disease. Watch the guardian then write "but what about china and russia" and double down on the crocodile tears for "women's rights" in Iran as a pretense for more war on the very next page with no fucking sense of shame. The Reform Party and the Guardian are two sides of the same fascist coin.

  • Describe the Gilded Age, Depression and Dust Bowl including death tolls, lack of babies born and shortened life expectancy initially hinting that you may be describing China, then in the last moment you pull the rug and explain it was the US as a dramatic irony to explain the racist orientialist perspective against China. Expect a fail for a grade but a fleeting sense of contentment.

  • The kernel of truth here is that they admit that the evil they project on to Iran they are guilty themselves. Only a fascist would see those numbers on the right (as "conservative" as they are; read probably at least an order of magnitude wrong) and consider it restraint.

The numbers on the left they have literally no credible sources. With 50000 you would think they would at least fake one. This all proves that westerners are itching for a narrative as a license for bigotry; they are not needing much "persuasion"/"brainwashing" to be convinced.

  • The material conditions, including for westerners, comes before the idea. It is why theory doesn't always change their mind and break their orientialist perspective. As long as one treats the "conversion to marxism" along positivist lens then we will be confounded that when someone reads the same theory we do come to a different conclusion along imperialist lines. And if one is a westerner then it is worthwhile examining how one's personal material conditions allowed them to be more receptive to marxist ideas.

  • It highlights the function of holocaust memorial is not for universal emancipation but to create an exception for zionist fascism (ie ongoing western imperialism and the crimes against humanity that comes with it).

  • Unless I am reading this wrong the above has got a lot of "no one else worthy was killed in the holocaust" vibes. Ie suggesting not to compare "illegals" to jewish holocaust victims?

Like the main reason we have to use Nazi war crimes as allegories because westerners (as a class) have no universally accepted evil as a common ground of understanding for comparison, having minimised the evils of imperialism and colonisation.

This is just advertising to liberals who are distraught by these murders that zionists are fascists.

  • 🤣

  • If you keep the habit long enough at one point the chore becomes a necessity; it will become hard to function effectively without repeating the habit. The trick is to make sure you can keep the habit long enough so that the quantiative changes becomes a qualitative one. Finding something you enjoy and doing it more, some people distract themselves with music to endure longer, consider having a higher proportion weight resistance over "cardio" can be more "time efficient" depending on your goals, and ensure you are eating and sleeping well (the latter two can be their own battles). If you're not white (and even if you are white) then consider getting Vitamin D checked especially if there is not enough sun.
