Sarcastic bitch with a wine problem

  • Like many other states, Massachusetts offers tax credits for film and television productions that film in the state. In particular, Massachusetts offers credits worth 25 percent of a production's expenses and payroll tax liability incurred in the Bay State. If the credits exceed the production's Massachusetts tax liability, they can claim 90 percent of the remainder as a refund.

All in all the article was a bit of a hit piece against these tax credits in both MA and other states. Could be completely on point for all I know though, no clue if they're representing the facts accurately or not

  • But, you know... Is just some differences that can be worked out

Fewer than we have with the right. But yeah, let's just stay in our own silos, I'm sure that'll help us all achieve what we want.

This is sort of relevant here:

  • If a court no longer takes the concerns of the citizens seriously, how can they still expect the citizens to take its rulings and actions seriously?

"Rules for thee, but not for me" is a classic though, and it seems like a scarily large percentage of the population actually wants that to be te norm

  • “Nothing in the Constitution compels a state court to provide a particular measure of deference to a state official’s confession of error,” Michel wrote. In other words, it doesn’t matter how flawed Drummond believes the case is, the court is under no obligation to take those concerns seriously.

Well that's a pretty fucking terrible way to look at things

  • More AI you say? Can do!

  • Well, only one session left for that to happen. Let's see, who knows?

  • Jesus fuck, I didn't even know about this. That's an actually dystopian draft, holy shit that's bad – here's to hoping that either the final is much saner than what the current draft is, or that it just doesn't get signed by eg. EU countries, but I'm not exactly feeling hopeful

  • Ah surprising that Poland's still got copyright laws that relaxed, I thought they'd been more or less harmonized in the whole EU. Finland's laws used to be pretty much like what you describe too, but they were changed… uh, fuck, I think 10 – 20 years ago to be stricter and I have a vague memory that they claimed it was to be more in line with how most other countries are in the EU, but it's very much possible that either the politicians behind this lied, or that I remember wrong

  • Ha yeah true that's much closer to the real thing. Gonna shamelessly edit that in

  • That'd depend on your local copyright laws, but it's probably illegal.

Getting caught without your friend calling the cops on you is extremely unlikely, at least assuming you don't do anything fantastically stupid

  • Rule

    Jump
  • Oh I doubt they got bored of it, they're just multitasking

  • You're answering me with hyperbole.

    […]

I think you would have gotten along well with senator Joe McCarthy.

  • Honestly I think it's just that they don't care: Trump is the Führer and everything he does is perfect

  • I have the biggest cognitive decline, just tremendous, all the doctors are saying it, they're saying "sir, your cognitive decline has been faster than I've seen in anyone else." I make no sense at all, it's amazing folks

  • Yeah it's true that while he was never exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, he does seem to have gotten a lot worse fairly quickly. Might be COVID, it's been linked to cognitive decline and I've definitely seen that in my own parents who are no spring chicken

  • generally a bit early for that level of impairment.

Well, assuming the impairment is age-related and not just, you know, built in

  • It's fucking wild that conservatives listen to Trump and hear an intelligent and coherent person.

  • They call him the incoherent rambler. Everyone is saying it.

And everyone really is saying it, too

  • Conservatives are only capable of empathy if their ideology directly affects someone they care about. Good on them for finally getting there, but they're a day late and a dollar short
