Linux@lemmy.ml•Dirty Frag: Universal Linux LPE - allows any unprivileged local user to gain root access on a vulnerable Linux system - no patch availableEnglish
2·8 hours agothat kernel release (which most distros have still not shipped yet) fixes only one of the two vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-43284); afaik even upstream still doesn’t have a patch for the second one (CVE-2026-43500) at this time.
(for people relying on Linux privilege separation, here are mitigation instructions.)

1·9 hours agoOkay it’s not fake-fake, just so awful you need a PhD in Chinese Language to understand it

2·1 day agoAs someone helpfully explained to you in that thread:
You’re trying to explain how Israelis’ indifference to Palestinian suffering is valid
also btw my participation in this sub-thread began by replying to your challenging someone to find examples of you “defending the right” and… yeah, the above-linked thread is obvs one of them

4·2 days agoit’s been well over 6 months since anyone from .ml removed one of your comments; your bigotry lately has instead been getting removed by mods from many other places (including several from your own instance).

503·2 days agohttps://github.com/rimu/no-qanon/blob/master/domains.txt includes… wikileaks.org 🤦
afaik WikiLeaks still enjoys a spotless accuracy record and obviously has never promoted QAnon.
The fact that some QAnon promoters have themselves cited some WikiLeaks publications is, in my opinion at least, not a reason to prohibit linking to WikiLeaks (a site which hasn’t published anything new recently but continues to host a massive archive of public interest documents).

41·2 days ago😭 is the emoji for exocrine
spoiler
lacrimal glands, where tears are produced, are actually a type of exocrine gland.
The crine in endocrine and exocrine come from Ancient Greek κρίνω (krínō) which has many definitions, allegedly including “to separate, also to secrete”… Except, does it? The “to secrete” meaning of κρίνω was actually only added to wiktionary by a random IP address in 2023.
I’m crine. (From Scots crine (“to shrivel”), from Scottish Gaelic crìon (“withered”), from Old Irish crín.) 🫠
Yep, Fastly the CDN company (doing HTTPS mitm-as-a-service for millions of websites) which Apple also uses (along with CloudFlare) for their similar iCloud Private Relay feature.
Unlike Apple though, Firefox’s new “built-in VPN” does not claim (falsely) to use different providers for ingress and egress.

11·4 days agoI’m not worried about malicious software, I’m worried about da gummint
“Malicious software” is a big category, and includes any scenario where a government (or anyone else) is able to cause your phone/computer/etc to act against your wishes.

You posted the album cover of this album (see also: their music video for Stress) but your post text is describing something else? 🤔
