  • You replied to a comment asking "source?" with an entire paragraph containing zero sources.

  • The trial is not due to the accusations you make, and for the record, there's no law against being biased or not impartial.

  • I think it is Hyprland that is the outlier in being animated by default, rather than sway being especially barebones. Compared to popular WMs on X11, sway is not minimal. Compare to dwm and bspwm for example, both of which are pretty popular yet more minimal than sway.

  • Not just the pricing, but also the low footprint, tiny size and fanlessness.

  • I'll add that it's made by the creator of foot terminal

  • Pinephone?

Also I like fuzzle better than rofi, check it out if you haven't

  • I'm thinking of hosting things like small fediverse servers, which from my understanding need to be public facing. Also thinking of running a monero node.

  • Be careful that sometimes these providers will shut you down for hosting media servers. Even if your content is not illegally obtained.

  • EDIT: Looks like I'm wrong, Fennec is still maintained. Seems the difference is that Mull is more strict about privacy, which means more sites may not work.

    Original comment:

I forget what it was, but I think Mull is the "better" Firefox flavor right now. Maybe Fennec is no longer maintained? Idk. Maybe it'll come up if you search it.

Cromite is different. It's based on chromium instead of Firefox. Mull (and maybe Fennec?) probably has better privacy overall. There's a comparison page somewhere out there.

  • There's 4ft.io too. Oh nvm looks like it's gone.

  • Never heard of unifiedPush, but looks great. Is it becoming standard for self hosted push notifications? I need to take control of my own notifications...

  • The article is full of speculation, opinions and commentary instead of merely presenting facts.

  • Israel just bombed Beirut, targeting a Hamas official.

This is a major escalation, and could mean an expansion of Hezbollah's involvement, spreading the war into other parts of the Middle East.

  • Guix is almost like nix but with scheme, right? Any other differences?

I do like scheme. Nix is quite impressive. But my unpopular opinion is I am not convinced it's philosophy is necessary. Nix feels like a workaround to legacy baggage in POSIX to allow for all its features of full reproducibility of packages and the overall system. Although Gentoo is not exactly reproducible, I feel like the level of control is sufficient to give me the benefits I want.

Nix works for maybe 95% of cases, but the 5% where its workarounds do not work sre annoying to deal with. Gentoo on the other hand doesn't break so much from the traditional unix way of doing things, but still grants the user a great load of freedom and choice.

  • Thats it yes!! I was actually just about to come back to this thread to update that I finally found it after trying a million other config options. Thank you so much!

  • For the ability to mix and match. Makes it easy for newcomers.

  • It works even if steam is installed through my system package manager rather than flatpak, which I find even more puzzling.

I suppose steam is installing something alongside it that bottles is using. Can't figure out what it is.

  • I don't think this should have to do with it, as I run the game outside of steam in bottles. I am running a GOG copy.

  • Does Gentoo count?

It's not that unpopular. I chose it because it is very powerful. It really makes use of every Linux power there is. It makes solving problems yourself much easier, and customization is big.
