  • not that I don't applaud the move, but I wonder who is it who was buying automobiles in ethiopia in the first place and what that country's charging infrastructure looks like now and their plans in the future. I get the feeling very few individuals will be affected by a ban.

  • the lesson that I'm afraid is being taught is that if we vote for our leaders and our leaders not only do nothing but act like they are or will do something just to get elected that voting is meaningless. I don't want to perpetuate the thought that nothing will change so don't bother voting because then nothing really will change.

  • I could have told them that. congress knows about school shootings and child poverty and healthcare and ineffective methods of teaching and they overwhelmingly choose not to do anything about it.

legislating mentions of homosexuality and transgenders out education doesn't protect kids. refusing to acknowledge history to "protect" one subset of kids feelings doesn't protect kids. and using kids as political chips because they don't have agency doesn't protect kids. it really and solely protects the old establishment which is becoming smaller and more irrelevant to society every day.

I don't have kids myself but I would tell them that anyone who claims to speak for you you need to listen to what they are saying and decide for yourself if they are speaking for you. because I am for damn sure the vast majority are only appealing to the parents, not the kids.

  • it's disgusting that those in charge in israel are using what was done to their people in the 30s and 40s as a universal shield for when they commit atrocities. you can't tell any israeli they're doing bad or else you get accused of being antisemitic. you can't negotiate anything that way unless israel gets everything they want.

  • and what's elon going to do about it? fucking nothing.

chances are he's given them a follow.

  • it MIGHT have an effect in the united states. israel is so reliant on us dollars and equipment to survive, it would not be much of a stretch to call them a client state.

I don't think any (democratic) politicians want to be associated with or vocally support a genocidal nation. don't be surprised if you see (democratic) politicians talk about pulling funds from israel. it's something I think we should have done at least 30 years ago.

  • genocidist gets mad he's called a genocidist, confuses term used for hatred of a religious group with criticism of a government

one can be pro judaism (or at least neutral to it) and anti israel. someone needs to tell this clown israel≠judaism≠israel.

  • the only quibble I would make about the video is they made a road trip 100% east of the mississippi where there's a lot of people and opportunities to put in charging stations. my opinion, it was a weighted test. where they made their second stop is literally right across the bridge from my hometown, and I know of at least 2 fast charge stations they easily could have made on the charge they had left if the one they used was unavailable. I would have been more impressed if they went west.

  • every time I've taken a road trip (12 times) it's always been in a rental mainly out of necessity. I don't have anything against rentals, I'd just rather save an expense when I can.

  • I go on road trips for vacation. like 700+ miles in the day road trips. I wouldn't consider an ev right now because I have range anxiety and charging stations aren't as ubiquitous in the rural areas. if you stuck charge stations at every rest area on the interstates (the ones some states haven't closed yet), I dunno maybe but there are still big stretches of land out there that aren't close to an interstate let alone a rest area.

give me an ev that can go 700 miles in 12 hours and I might consider it.

  • elon should be ecstatic that there is no viable scaled alternative to his site because I am sure pissing off probably one of if not the most powerful woman on the planet and her legions of fans is not good for business.

and because there's no alternative he's not incentivised to do anything about it so the problem will persist.
