  • Continued to support Democrats after they fucked him in the 2016 primary, I’m guessing?

    I don’t know, I still like him

  • Are you fucking kidding me? Governments should be moving toward systems that make information easily accessible to every person in the country.

I mean, I’m not surprised, because America is The Bad Place. But they continue to find new and creative ways to disappoint and infuriate me

  • Less than Google is, for now. But still bad enough for me to be switching to Tuta

  • $5.75 - SW Michigan

  • This was made a few months ago, and I don’t think they edited the video to say anything about the events of the past few days. Further proof though, that there is a long history of his behavior here. He’s not a Nazi because he did the salute, he did the salute because he’s a Nazi.

  • I’ll definitely do that! Thanks for the recommendations

  • Why is that? I’m switching away regardless, so I’m just curious. I started using it because it made everything simple

  • I don’t use any *arr, though I’ve been meaning to look more into it. I do use Jellyfin though, so I’ll probably start there.

I’ll take a look at Nginx proxy manager for domain configuration, like another user in this thread suggested

  • Thank you! That’s helpful. How would you go about setting up a password and 2FA for your own site? I would like to make my services “publicly” available (to myself and friends/family)

  • Thank you!

Are there any simple services you’d recommend starting with to get a feel for things? I’ll probably start with AdGuard, unless there’s a better option

And I don’t plan to use both at the same time, so conflicting ports shouldn’t be an issue.

Is the process for configuring your own domain with Docket enough of a pain that I should consider sticking with YunoHost?

  • My issue was not that Andy Yen made the comment he did (as much as I disagree). My problem was the Proton account making an official statement doubling down on it.

He did make a subsequent post trying to clarify and apologize, but at this point, the cat is out of the bag, IMO. I’m switching to Tuta for email, Mullvad for VPN, and self-hosting Nextcloud for storage.

  • It is pretty much just scaremongering. Marijuana, like any drug, can put a person in a mental state that can serve as a trigger for a psychological condition that someone is prone to, like if someone with a family history of anxiety gets way too uncomfortably high. It’s not necessarily the drug that’s at fault - it’s having a stressful experience of a bad time. I’ve never heard of psychosis induced by cannabis though.

Marijuana is just about the safest drug there is, and I think most people could safely try it with no ill effects.

  • I wasn’t going to try it in the first place, but good to know I guess

  • No, I don’t think so. Most of the video is a surface-level, but generally accurate, description of anarchism.

  • Boogaloo Boys are a far-right accelerationist organization/movement that are named after their desire to launch a second civil war in America (“Civil War 2: Electric Boogaloo”). They’re closer to being Proud Boys or Three Percenters than they are to reading Kropotkin or organizing with Food Not Bombs.

I would say this is similar to how “anarcho”-capitalists try to lay claim to anarchism while espousing right-wing ideas. They might try to claim the name, but their ideology is far from anarchist in actuality.

  • At first, I thought it was a pretty good video aimed at people unfamiliar with the ideas of anarchism. Then they said that Boogaloo Boys are anarchists, which is not at all accurate. Crash Course is misinforming their audience here, unfortunately.

  • Ah yes, we need fewer nationwide gatherings of solidarity to build connections and prepare to work together over the next few years, and more fruitless calls for violence. That will definitely work.

  • It sounds like we have similar long term plans! For what it’s worth, I’ve heard that homesteading can be great for folks with ADHD, since there are such a wide variety of ways to approach it and tasks that need doing, that it sates our need for novelty to stay engaged with things.

  • Oh, sure! The other comments did a pretty good job of explaining things. In my case, I struggled a lot with procrastination and getting sidetracked easily, which led to the lazy descriptor. And as for the sensitive, I tend to feel my emotions strongly and quickly, and I also have rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD), so I tend to easily assume I’m being socially rejected
