  • Would be cool if the server wasn't proprietary and closed source. Until I can look through the source code of the server I'll stick to Signal who has open sourced everything and a very well security reviewed implementation.

  • The tdrop program that let's you interact with any terminal as if it were a dropdown terminal doesn't work in Wayland, and it just isn't the same to open a terminal in the normal way, is lame. Foot is a good terminal for sure but I want the dropdown effect.

    https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Yakuake

It's its own terminal but I find it to be pretty good and it works with Wayland.

  • Did you have electron/chrome applications flicker? I've been dealing with that since switching to Nvidia (I didn't want to but Plex only supports GPU encoding on Linux with Nvidia).

  • It's a different type of plastic, AFAIK it's like a spray on polymer for the aluminum cans; But I think the biggest factor is probably UV degradation of the ingredients in the soda with the clear plastic bottles.

  • Aloomineeum

  • It's true, but the amount of plastic in the cans is pretty negligible, especially compared to plastic bottles and the aluminum can is still by far the most recyclable beverage container.

Also there are new linings that don't use plastic but natural materials called oleoresinous linings but they're not good for acidic things so they're not very wildly used.

  • That's not entirely true. In the early days they used wax to line the cans because steel still leaves a taste in the drink. It just didn't work very well and also caused carbonation issues as the CO2 diffused into the wax.

  • They already do in the US, they sell beer like this. And I'm pretty sure I've seen water packaged like this too.

  • They'll say this initially to downplay the threat, but quickly turn the message back around because they know that "US air superiority is still unrivaled even with the latest developments from foreign governments" doesn't get them funding and doesn't sell planes. Look at how they pivoted with China's stealth fighter:

It’s not the first time a DoD official has verbally shrugged at a key part of China’s military aviation modernization plan. In September 2022, former Pacific Air Forces Commander Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach told reporters that the J-20 stealth fighter isn’t “anything to lose a lot of sleep over.” (The DoD intelligence official today said the J-20 is “still a highly capable system” but one that did not “meet all of [China’s] original parameters.”)

It went from "not anything to lose sleep over" to "still a highly capable system". Notice the bill funding the replenishment of the weapons stockpile after sending the old stuff to Israel and Ukraine just passed so they need to justify their proposed contracts.

  • Yeah that's a lot of work. That's why I just sail the high seas and put stuff on Plex.

  • Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see any option to install from files with Fennec? Only from a collection. And it seems you can't add bypass paywalls clean to a collection because it's not in the AMO.

Edit: nvm had to update Fennec

  • Exactly, those terms are not mutually exclusive to corporate bean counters.

  • He made it better for Arabs, everyone else was treated horribly. But hey I guess being a dictator is fine as long as the people you like are being treated okay and fuck everyone else. How very Modi of you.

  • Also if Europe isn't concerned about Russia, why has Europe's defense spending drastically gone up? Clearly there is more going on than your blase attitude is implying.

  • Typically lifted trucks that are supposed to "look cool" like they're capable of offroading, but would get stuck the moment they actually went off road.

  • Lmao I'm in the NYC area and my whole house shook. I'm right there with you. Thanks for the explanation!
