  • Fair, I'm not sure what the solution would be though, even if you explicitly want to optimize for getting as many people as possible using decentralized social media regardless of their politics or cultural preference, some kind of niche culture is going to form.

  • I see the rockets in its missile battery have red tips, so better be careful with it

  • Mine bloomed closer to thanksgiving, there's a few buds left that didn't yet but I'm not sure if they're going to

  • It's a shame that Nostr's brand is tainted by its community in a lot of people's eyes, there's a lot to like about it as a protocol and as a free software project that is independent from that stuff.

  • That is a really cool concept

  • Backs away slowly swearing to not have an opinion

  • Politics smut with content rules enforced via Discord and a wiki that people write 4k word essays about seems like it would make for a very intense can of drama worms

  • Oh right. So I guess that means the majority of stuff uploaded to Spotify never really gets listened to.

  • with 86 million music files, representing around 99.6% of listens.

I'm not sure exactly how "listens" maps on to total songs, but it sounds like they got almost all of them

  • I don't see how there's really much room for improvement in terms of convenience. Buying things online is already very simple, typing in the thing you want to buy and sorting through some options. If you want to do it efficiently, it takes up very little time, although some people enjoy the process and choose to spend lots of time on it. Maybe for something like looking through many sites for the best price, that otherwise wouldn't be worth the time?

  • I would argue that even before the point where the conspiracies I mentioned were conclusively proven and accepted as common knowledge, it still made sense to seriously consider the possibility and not dismiss people doing so only because they were engaging in conspiracy theories (which absolutely happened). That mindset just helps them get away with it.

  • I don't want to move on from Reddit, I want to contribute to its destruction and/or replacement.

  • The way to do it is block communities you don't want to see content from, which is kind of like unsubscribing if you browse All

  • Not really, I always strongly disliked Twitter and the idea of something that's basically like Twitter never appealed to me. Might try that stuff eventually though.

  • Sure, but it works the other way around too; you can't automatically rule out conspiracy theories as false just because they fall into the category of conspiracy theories. This is itself a plausible conspiracy theory; that the trope of conspiracy theories being associated with crazy idiots, and the prevalence of very stupid conspiracy theories, is supported and encouraged to provide additional cover for the real ones.

  • ok fair, I didn't play that one. The point is Morrowind is exceptional.

  • Yeah, they started with Oblivion though, and it's a very noticeable difference. For instance Morrowind doesn't have a quest arrow telling you where to go, you follow signs and manual directions based on landmarks, which is possible because of more thought being put into the landscape and making its details a part of the story.
