  • You are correct, that was a mistake.

    However, although symbols of units named after scientists (V, A, W, C, J, Ω, H, F, T, Hz, S, K, N, Pa, Bq, R, Ci) are uppercase, they are lowercase when written out (volt, amp(ère), watt, coulomb, joule, ohm, henry, farad, tesla, hertz, siemens, kelvin, newton, pascal, becquerel, roentgen, curie) to differentiate them from the surnames. Also be careful with degrees (Celsius, Fahrenheit, Rankine, Réaumur...) and grams (g, not G or gr), unrelated to the bacteria-ranking Christian Gram. And yes, the l/L debate is why the Claude Litre hoax was created. (In Unicode-capable applications I use 𝑙 BTW)

  • Japanese toilets have heated seats, warm bidets, disinfectant, maybe active suction, automatic seat wiping, mood lighting, speakers, USB ports, Wi-Fi, demand-responsive toilet paper ordering services and whatnot.

    What I'm talking about is a very simple mechanical system: being able to continuously control the water amount with the depth or duration of the "flush" button/lever press, which is a requirement to get an eco rating in my country, and such toilets have been common for decades. I think the similarly common 2-amount flush systems have a lesser eco rating and 1-amount flush systems are banned in most new installations.

    Wegen Ausfall Werbungeinkommen, Bobovize-Ausgaben (inkl. Zensierer im Antennefunkbüro) und Strafen wegen unerfüllten Vertrag mit Sazka (ČT hat ihr Tippenzugresultat nicht am 28. 12. ausgestrahlt) gab es Millionen Verlust aus der Gebührenkasse. Funkrat hat auch eine Anklage gegen ČT gemacht, da werden folgende als Straftäter gegen Funk- und ČT-Gesetz bezeichnet:

    • im Funknetz: 68.5 Stunden mit weißen Text auf schwarzen Bildschirm statt Programm
      • Verdikt: Hodač ist schuldig. Keine Strafe.
    • im Funknetz: Bobos erste Nachrichten hatten kein ČT-Logo
      • Verdikt: Bobo ist schuldig aber man versteht, sie hatte kaum Ausstattung dafür. Keine Strafe.
    • im Funknetz, insgesamt >7 Stunden: Zensierer am Sender hat absichtlich ČT2-Signal auf ČT1-Kanal gelitten, wenn "Meuterei"-Nachrichten auf "Erste" lief und kein Erklärungstext war auf VHS vorhanden, einmal (26. 12.) unabsichtlich auch kommerzielle(!) TV Prima.
      • Verdikt: Hodač und Sendezentrum sind schuldig. Keine Strafe.
    • überall, 9 Tage 1.-9. 1.: Ohne Erlaubnis ČT-Chef waren Kanallogos geändert (Text "STÁVKA" (Streik) darunter). (10. 1.-10. 2. stand der Text auch dort, aber nun mit Erlaubnis der gereche Provisionsleitung.)
      • Verdikt: Angestellte sind schuldig. Keine Strafe.
    • im Funknetz: 10x Werbung ohne Vor- und/oder Nachaviso, oder Sendungen ohne Vor-/Abspann (denn sie inmitten ein/aus/umgeschaltet waren)
      • Verdikt: Hodač und Sendezentrum sind schuldig. Keine Strafe.
    • im Funknetz 28. 12.: Ein Kindvermisstenmeldung (wie in USA sog. "Amber Alert") wurde nicht ausgestrahlt.
      • Verdikt: Es war wegen Hodač, aber ČT ist nicht verplichtet, solche Meldungen zu ausstrahlen. Keine Strafe.
    • 12mal, resp. 9mal: in verschiedenen Unterhaltungsprogrammen Musikvideo What a Wonderful World, resp. Na kolena so editiert, dass sie Videos vom Protest und Titelbildschirm mit Einladung zum Wenzelsplatz enthalten. Mit dem zweiten wurden auch Schimpfwörter in Tageszeit ausgestrahlt.
      • Weder unterschwellige Berichte noch Werbung, also nicht wirklich seriös. Angestellte sind schuldig. Keine Strafe.
    • Punkt oben, dazu Sondermeldungen Angestellte, die nicht ganz objektiv waren. Und manche Sendungen waren unstandard, z. B. wurden bei "Fernsehtipps" Ausschnitte Nachrichten als "Trailer für die Nachrichtensendung"(?) verwendet.
      • Angestellte sind dafür verantwortlich aber unsere Demokratie war in Krise (die Interesse und Reaktion des Volkes ist davon Beweis). Das war Sondermeldungen wert. Keine Strafe.
    • Bobos Nachrichten waren super verzerrt. Oft hat sie offensichtlich gelügt.
      • Bobo ist schuldig. Keine Strafe.

    Was wichtig ist, unsere "junge Demokratie" (10 Jahre alt; Begriff von ARD verwendet) hat bestanden: man hat gezeigt, dass wenn prinzipische und wörtliche Interpretierungen des Gesetzes streiten, wehrt sich die Bevölkerung mit Erfolg für demokratische Prinzipien.

    Bobošíková wurde im Jahre 2004 zu Europarlamentmitgliederin, aber 2009 wurde sie nicht neu gewählt. 2013 versuchte sie, Präsidentin zu werden. Im ersten tschechischen Präsidentdirektwahl bekam sie 2,4 % und stand damit am letzten Platz hinter einem volltätowierten Künstler und einem Idiot, der keinen Grund für seine Kandidatur geben konnte.

    2025 hat sie linke und gegen-bisherige-5Koalition Parteien (meistens Kommunisten und Sozialdemokratie, beide einmal super (>15 %) stark, im schnellen Verfall, nachdem sie mit Populist Andrej Babiš koaliert haben), als Bewegung "STAČILO!" (GENUG!) ins Parlament-Wahlkampf gesammelt, mit ihr als Vorsitzende. Das Ergebnis wurde niedriger als erwartet: mit weniger als 5 % sind sie ausgefallen und keine Plätze bekommen.

    Gerade will Ministerpräsident Babiš ČT nicht mehr von Gebühren finanzieren, also staatlich statt öffentlichrechtlich rennen. (Er sagt, nicht alle Fernseherbesitzer empfangen Live-TV. Aber was er fordert, bedeutet, alle Bürger würden bezahlen, unabhängig vom Gerät. Echte Populismus-Logik, aber funktioniert, denn seine alte Wähler vertrauen ČT-Redakteure wenig und sehen lieber Nachrichten im Privatfernseher.) Wie vorher gesagt, wird gegen einem seine Minister schon protestiert... Kommt eine ČT-Krise wieder?

"Electricity" only travels near the speed of light because voltage is like a force sending waves through the electric field (simplified). And it's instantaneous current (amps = joules edit: coulombs / second) times voltage (electric field potential difference in volts = joules per coulomb) that delivers power.

    Simplifying to a single harmonic (pure 50Hz/60Hz sine voltage source and a passive, linear RLC load), you need not only multiply the voltage's and current's effective amplitude (that gets you apparent power in VA, voltamps) but also their power factor or cos φ (the cosine of phase beetween them) to get power in W (joules per second). If the cosine is one, it's a purely resistive (R) load (like a heater) with a phase difference of 0°. If the PF is zero, it's a purely reactive (L/C) load (a freewheeling synchronous motor is much like that) with a current phase of ∓90° and no power is consumed overall. If the cosine is negative, power is actually being generated by the device you're measuring (for instance, old elevators and escalators with synchronous motors are actually delivering power into mains when enough people are travelling down).
