  • Or focus on the non-invasive form of this technology.

  • Dog on the table, wtf!?

    Nice painting though.

  • Seems over-complicated…

I could imagine an autonomous, on-demand rural train service. Due to the low expected traffic, it seems like you could just build some additional sidings and use a more conventional design.

  • You might also find the Python library pandas useful. Its “DataFrames” can mirror your excel data 1:1 and you have convenience methods like to_excel(). Easy to combine with numpy for performant matrix math.

XLSX just becomes a container for storing/sharing your data, and while Python is used for analysis. I would use matplotlib for plotting rather than embedding in the sheet.

  • If I’m doing anything substantial, calculation-wise, I use openpyxl.

  • Agreed. I really tried to like Libre/OpenOffice over the years but it never felt right. OnlyOffice really hits the spot for me.

I don’t use Windows much any more but I was happy with the discounted student version of Office 2016, afaik the last perpetual license.

  • That’s just the price we have to pay for this wonderful capitalist system. Worth it!

  • It’s not that I look forward to rain-pants days, but it’s really not so tragic…

  • It’s been years since they ditched that officially.

  • Here in NL, you can get a 9 letter/digit code from the app or website to write (or print) on the envelope. For example:

    A 8 F

    2 C D

    5 P V

  • Damn man, that’s rough.

U-turns are quite a dangerous manoeuvre and really need to be executed properly to ensure safety.

I remember taking my Colorado drivers licence and it wasn’t covered at all in the written/practical exam. I practiced a couple times at traffic lights with a turn arrow with my parents but that was it.

For my Dutch lesson license (we rent a car a few times a year) u-turns and 3-pt turns were covered extensively. How fast you are going and which mirrors you’re checking in which order. They also test these “special manoeuvres” in the practical exam in a very healthy way. The roads also have a lot more medians which helps blunt driver stupidity.

    Cars are the worst…

  • I think a ban would cause more travel by car which is a worse outcome IMO.

However, as a 🦵-biker, I’m not sad about 25 kph speed limiters. At least in the Dutch context.

  • Can you explain the u-turn scenario?

  • Also a dev.

    • Protonmail
    • YT premium
    • Hetzner VPS (€20/m)
    • Cloudflare domains
  • I use proton mail but otherwise I would probably stick with the default iOS.

I self-host caldav with radicale and use native Debian/ios calendar apps. Immich to replace Google photos was especially satisfying.

  • I remember how excited I was when I finally got an invite code. Now happily gmail-free for 2 years.

Google Maps and YouTube I can’t avoid but otherwise ungoogling successfully.
