Your bait of falsehood takes this carp of truth; And thus do we of wisdom and of reach, With windlasses and with assays of bias, By indirections find directions out.

  • they look like civilians and it looks like it's in an urban area. maybe they're thinking it'd be better to risk themselves moving it instead of just letting it sit there and be a secondary explosion during the next attack? I'm with you that they're doing something very dangerous, but I'm a parent, if that shit was in my community I wouldn't feel good about just leaving it and hoping the authorities come.

  • These people talk like there's a big brown "putting boots on the ground" button like there is a big red "nuke Tehran" button. No appreciation for logistics.

  • You're thinking of air supremacy, not superiority. In case of supremacy, there's nothing else in the air to shoot at. Friendly fire can happen anytime I suppose but a lot less likely if there's nothing else in the air to shoot but friendlies

  • Note the difference between air superiority and air supremacy. Superiority means one side has the upper hand but must still be careful, supremacy means the other side is unable to do anything.

  • The only place I can see these lines quoted are random twitter accounts

  • There's practically zero reason to believe figures of how many people are killed, especially on day 2 of a conflict like this. For context, there is still disagreement on whether the vdv were wiped out to a man in the takeover/withdrawal from hostomel or the other way around. Since Iran is launching rockets and drones, no boots on the ground, there's no reason to give credence to any particular numbers.

  • Thank you comrade

  • Tactical/strategic nukes

  • Which school/hospital? Do you know the names?

  • "mirror mirror on the wall, is this osint account based or cringe?"

  • If this doesn't turn out to just be a fun weekend for the Epstein coalition, then oil prices will spike, to Russia's benefit. The main/only thing the EU has been able to do in the last 2years of the Russia Ukraine conflict has been economic damage to Russia, and dramatically boosting their oil revenues runs counter to that. Euros once again hung out to dry by the US.

  • The sign is back in the window folks

  • are hungary/slovakian still exporting electricity to ukraine, or did they cut that off as previously threatened?

  • If they decide to license pac3 technology to Ukrainians they might as well just email the plans directly to Russia

  • Canada's Carney government released a new defence industrial strategy yesterday. Lots of focus on building things domestically. I'm most curious how engagement with northern Indigenous communities will pan out, as tons of arctic/subarctic dual-use infrastructure as well as resource projects for critical minerals are/would be in parts of the country that are much more Indigenous than the more urban areas in southern Canada.

In other news, I haven't been very engaged on the news lately. Work/family/real life things have gotten busier. No real drama or problems, just shifting priorities. I'm not sure it'll change anytime soon so don't hold your breath for posts of the week returning. On the plus side, lower odds of mod tyranny.

  • There was a thinking man's bitcoin bull case from 5-10 years ago that was basically "yeah this is all monopoly money but wait til China does real things with block chain stuff". I suppose not.

  • Props to earthsea, the first one in particular is very accessible.

  • they're saying he's the most nimble with words of all time, folks
