  • That's where I'm not sure. According to wikipedia, no. So then yeah, laserdisc would provide the best image for those releases at 425, but a PAL laserdisc would give 440, in contrast to VHSs NTSC resolution of 240. That said, the 90s release was itself a 20th anniversary remaster of the originals, though allegedly there exists a copy for long term preservation that was never released. But, I'd have sworn that the 20th remaster saw a limited release on DVD, but that would again be something to be found on eBay or from a collector if it exists.

  • Meh, close enough, same spirit.

  • Honestly your best bet is to find a DVD/VHS box set and rip them yourself. Everyone keeps the 1080 versions these days at a minimum, and i don't know if those versions were ever release in HD, though here's hoping some can come in with Cunningham's law.

  • That actually sounds rather pleasant, minus the book. Air travel is great for books.

  • I'll be honest, it never really crossed my mind that the ladies room attendant was a chick, I never really put much thought into that one.

Also too, BECAUSE IT'S JUST A DESIGNATED PLUMBED ROOM TO TAKE A SHIT, NOT A FUCKING THING TO BE POLITICIZED.

  • They don't care though, if anything it's more money for the medical profit machine.

  • The on/off switch always struck me as odd. Like, in a recessed plug such as this where the male prongs have a bit of insulation to them, are they really that worried about a tiny arc that might occur when someone forgets to turn off the device? Like it would make more sense to have a limit switch built into the socket that activates on insertion and deactivates on removal. And even then, with our caveman sockets in the US, a small arc isn't the end of the world, you just know not to have your fingers near the shiny bits.

  • You say that, until you get a surprise tickle up on a ladder and accidentally punch yourself in the face. Ask me how i know :)

Glad to see another electrician on here!

  • Code doesn't specify the orientation of a standard duplex 15 or 20 amp receptacle. Personally, I'm of the position that they should be ground pin up, for exactly the situation you specified. But, since there isn't a code mandate, residential customers and the occasional commercial customer will make you flip them because "they look weird upside down" (ground up). I think a lot of this comes from the old K&T days when it was standard practice to place the hot terminal on the right and neutral of the left, assumably because most people are right handed, and they added the ground on the bottom to make the face as it was more aesthetically pleasing. Granted, this last bit is all pure speculation.

The fact of the matter is that since I can't draw a code reference to ground up, I install residential ground down. On commercial jobs I'll ask the client directly and explain the hazard, since they're more liability minded, and they'll typically go ground up except in reception areas and the like. People are funny.

  • Times of war yes, but to seize land before you get to that point..

  • That's probably the point, get people to fight back as an excuse to squash them.

  • American dude here, right there with you. Just some of these conversations you overhear from girls in their 20s or even 30s is mind numbing, and they can keep going until the sun comes up. And they're loud.

My wife and I saw Dead and Co last year at the sphere in Vegas, and there were these two women behind us that wouldn't shut up the entire show, just talking like you'd envision two teenagers gossiping out their asses.

I think a lot of it just comes from a complete lack of social awareness, and if they're the slightest bit pretty, they've likely never been checked for being rude or obnoxious.

  • Care to share what that entails?

  • Those dummies think they're the good guys.

  • Nah I'm with you. It's just unbelievably lame that we have to be careful about seeking help for the possibility of having it used against us.

  • I'll be honest, you've just justified a years long paranoia regarding doctors and therapists I've had. The likelihood of me being a target for anything is extremely low, but that fact that any goon in the government can get access to medical records and (even worse) therapy records that can be used against you for whatever purpose they deem necessary is unsettling. I've always been leery about letting on what's going on in my mind, and this kinda just confirms it.

Luckily I haven't needed to go to a doctor outside of urgent care for simple stuff in a very long time, but I'm also reaching the age where I need to start paying attention, so off to Mexico I go.

  • Bingo

  • It still bugs me that your life count reset to 4 if you turned off the console.

  • Yes. The 90s will always be 10 years ago.
