  • It truly is, its the most downvotes I've seen a comment get yet.

  • Nor will they get the workload of 6 people. They might for a couple of months, but at some point the KPI's will suddenly say that it's possible to squeeze out the workload of 2 more people. With maybe even 1 worker less!

  • Holy shit we found the one person on the whole planet who might actually be wanted for this trials jury.

  • Been an while since I looked it up, but I thought it was depended on the material. PLA IIRC is somewhat porous and will harbor bacteria, for example.

  • I think it just really goes to show you can't hide anything on a computer physically.

What do you mean? It's certainly possible when using encryption software such as bitlocker. It's just not always enabled by default. In fact it's saved my ass from total data loss a couple of times.

If you can make sure nobody has physical access to your pc than there's a case to be made that you don't need it, and if you can't and are afraid that someone has both knowledge of this fact and the intention to (ab)use it, you use bitlocker.

  • Baby boom

    Jump
  • 40k a year? So at least 3200 a month for daycare? Who on gods dying earth can pay for that? That's more than 3 times my rent and my landlord is bleeding me like a stuck pig, what the fuck

  • Yeah the title really is written in a way to badmouth the norwegians. A "scheme" to "lure" the scientist away. Luckily for the US this dastardly scheme would only work if the scientists were treated bad in their home country!

    Oh wait

  • My PC randomly does this too with program.exe or something. And the dumbest part is, that as soon as I press cancel to close the program myself, it starts shutting down completely! Doesn't even load back into the OS or something, just continues the shutdown like nothing was wrong in the first place.

  • Every Dutch person in this thread: what the fuck is testing your frame?

  • Sure, but once you get arrested the Faraday bag won't be of any use unless you toss the whole thing -including phone- beforehand.

  • I've got a 12 mini and bought it just because it was small. Had nothing else from the apple ecosystem (altho I did buy airpods with the phone cause it had no 3.5mm jack), and still bought it just because it was small. People like to point out and laugh at how tiny the phone is, but I don't care cause at least I don't have to carry around half a tablet everyday. Sad to hear they discontinued the mini line, even tho I wasn't planning on buying apple again.

  • How's that boot tasting?

  • "... assumed to be code for heil hitler."

The news really has got to stop with this "assumed to be" bullshit. It's as clear as day that it is code for heil hitler, as HH/88 has been a long fucking time. It's the whole "Elon made what looked to be a nazi salute" thing all over again. No it didn't look like a nazi salute, it was, and this HH is not maybe code for something, it is.

Get some fucking courage and call it like it is.

  • It might be nicely organized but coming from windows the abbreviations can be downright confusing. For example:

    • /bin; recycle bin?
    • /etc; other files (etcetera)?
    • /home; okay, this is where I can find my own files
    • /media; music and pictures? USB drives and CD's?
    • /mnt; no idea but also USBs apparently?
    • /root; wait system admin has his own files?
    • /sbin; super recycle bin?
    • /usr; wait, also where I can find my own files?

Sure, this might be hyperbole and Windows has its own problems, the two different program files folders coming to mind first. But when you come from an OS where system folders are words instead of abbreviations Linux can be really confusing, especially if you are not that tech-savy.
