  • They were never about hobbies. We were a niche that they were happy to have, but they never cared. Origionally it was about education (which has a large overlap with hobbies so they served well).

  • Unless you are saving to something big in the near future it doesn't make sense not to. I have known many peohle to die young. I have known misers who died with millions in the bank. There is no point to money after death (at least not most religions, I cannot comment on yours) earn it, save a little for a rainy day and spend the rest.

  • it isn't lazy. Ebikes are just enough faster that you can get someplace in a reasonable amount of time. Sure you can ride a regular bike but that is speed loss makes a difference to the clock.

  • they are too small in general. They can't pay to attract someone who might be willing but isn't passonate. so often what is left is busybodies who are passonate and you let them do whatever as it is better than doing it yourself - you have other things todo with your time.

  • I rip physical media and then store it for legal reasons. my nas is much better than trying to find whatener disc.

  • Not in the suburbs near me - they are all new suburbs build in the last 3-10 years though. (3 years is important as sidewalks are built last so until the houses are all done the sidewalks don't connect). Older suburbs though, rarely have sidewalks.

  • Often the car is the one their parents used to drive, but the parents upgrade and the kid gets the old one. Technically it could be sold, but nobody considers that money, while the ebike is bought new (not many ebikes on the used market yet) and thus does cost real money. Nobody considers the cost of insurance or gas for the car too even though parents pay that and complain about it (do not confuse complain/talk with considering)

  • Yes they were. It wasn't right then, and it isn't right now.

  • Suburbs have great pedestrian paths - if your only goal is to exercise. Those paths don't go anywhere, but living in the suburbs I many people using them for exercise.

  • This is very real. Take an ethics class sometime - indirect effects and what things look like are very important.

  • Drivers should not be tipped as they cannot do anything different. Either you get there or you don't. If you get there slower they are incomitent. If you get there faster they broke the law and your tip indicates you enticed them to do so and so you are guilty.

  • Where I live they got it. While it isn't law, the local fast food is all starting at $16/hour or more.

  • Mains power in the us is lacking. It works but t power is clearly missing. who cares that the battery takes a long time to charge, you only need it for an hour a day (not even every day) so a battery works well and is always charged without worry about gas or cords.

  • I'm able to get the good parts of scrum without all the overhead with kanban. Sprints are worthless, work doesn't align on a 2 week cadence anyway.

  • There is a difference: data. Other software doesn't have data on what apartments are empty and what they are all renting for. They can only get data on the one landlord (even if they have more than one landlord in the system they cannot combine the data for the two). The know how many apartments one landlord has free, but not what others might have - only what they advertise. They don't know what other landlords are really charging, only what they are advertising they charge (which might be different). This lack of data means software cannot find the best possible rate for the landlord - instead each landlord has to guess what is best.

  • Some do, the birth rate isn't zero. However for whatever reason (time is often cited) many never do.

  • Despite the above study, if you are a male in an abusive relationship there often is no help even if you seek it out.

  • There are evisting federal laws, right to repair laws, and plenty of attorny generals who will get involved.

  • Magnuson-Moss comes to mind. non oem parts cannot be used to deny warranty coveragi
