It's run by private companies, they'll sell your location, face, habits, what you do and like in real life in addition to your online profile. Then they can do whatever they want. Sell you things, manipulate what you think
It's empathy, it's normal. You consider the character a human being so it works. Like me you may be a bit too invested in the media you consume. When it's an issue, I tried to lay back and just think really hard about how it's a production, with an actor, a script, etc, and it reduces the effect

A similar solution would be using matrix with a WhatsApp bridge and setup an automated response there (I don't think there's a bridge with that feature yet, but it could be easy to setup on the server)
Isn't it supposed to be sike instead of psych? I may be completely wrong
