  • Do you have any issues with programming.dev?

  • At this point, I would rather follow the single organic active poster on that topic as long as they post on an ok instance (which programming.dev is)

I'm a bit burnt out of trying to have alternatives to lemmy.ml communities. We've been trying for more than a year by now (https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/21760805), and we didn't manage to get any of the alternatives communities to get even on par with the .ml one

When external projects or contributors post to Lemmy about their project, like Framasoft or Comaps, they do it on .ml communities

Either we all agree that the .ml communities stay the default ones on those topics, and that our attempt was a failure, or we agree to follow organic posters where they are.

  • From the previous comment (https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/48474450/19929594)

Her mentioning "Also quokk.au" under the "Uhhhh lemmy.dbzer0.com is the pro-AI instance." makes it quite clear that it's an issue for her.

I reached out to her 27 days ago, she never replied to me, I guess that's not going to happen. Meanwhile, !privacy@lemmy.ml is still the default community by far because we can't decide on one alternative community that can work for all active posters

  • We can probably find a way to consolidate to one community to avoid comments separation

  • Why not comment rather than downvote? This community is about in-depth discussion, that's probably why they prefer comments to downvotes

  • think we should be able to have healthy and constructive debates/discussions about both without any instance-wide restrictions.

Maybe that could be the topic for another governance vote

  • Off topic: I forgot how the governance system works, can someone link the post where it was implemented because I’m on mobile and search is really hard here. I don’t know how to see my vote tallied. ___

Upvote or downvote the main post

  • I'm pretty sure you've seen that post.

  • Lemmy's instance blocking doesn't fully block the instance users, it just hides the instance communities, so it's not equivalent to defederation.

    Piefed's instance blocking does.
