  • The idea of "Rapture" is very recent; and based on a very problematic pseudo-theology.

But for your idea, something more theologically solid relates to the idea that God is the source of all good, a world where God is entirely absent would be only evil and suffering, Hell.

  • They do support an Antichrist...

  • A problem is that people are both very stupid and very smart, just not about the same things.

  • I'm from a Germanic colony in south Brazil. I don't know how they do in Germany.

  • I'm finding it funny because around here most cars are manual, and when I got my driver's licence I was strongly warned that looking back instead of using the mirrors would be immediate failure.

  • Makes me wonder what they are doing to reach these figures.Because I can run many models at home and it wouldn't require me to be pouring bottles of water on my PC, nor it would show on my electricity bill.

  • I'm not a monarchist (anymore), but here in Brazil at least there's the argument that the only somewhat decent and competent leader that the country ever had was Emperor Pedro II.

  • The greatest argument against "solving" old-age: if 80 years old Conservatives controlling the world is bad, imagine 800 years old Conservatives controlling the world.

  • At this point the best for them would be if they managed to peacefully balkanize.

  • Yes, he deserves it, and more for all the other crimes he committed that are not on trial; but the reason may face any consequence at all is that he did one of the things he was elected to do, fight the extremely corrupt Supreme Court.

  • AFAIK the "issues" with Audacity were only that they added optional telemetry, and made the project lead a former Microsoft guy.

I may be wrong, I avoid looking too much into this type of drama.

  • @otterMaybe I'm ignorant, but the topic is about Brazil, and AFAIK we don't have the same issue of prison labour as the USA.

What usually happens here is people get seemingly hired for a job, get taken to work on a remote isolated location and the "employer" demands payment for transport and accommodations, so it becomes debt slavery.

  • Sorry for the pedantry, but "contemporary" only means "happening nowadays".(More exactly "con" - "together"; "temporary" - "[in] time").

Yes, the practice didn't end, but the legality of it did; and the forms it takes nowadays are different.

  • Nazis were greatly inspired by how USians treated blacks in the first place.

  • Only thing I can think of is liking to have a lot of holidays.

I'm from a Germanic colony, I fit much more their stereotypes.

  • A joke here in Brazil:How does an Argentinian commit suicide? They climb on their ego and jump.

    We love our hermanos 😁😁

  • AFAIK the "bourgeoisie" was mostly a phenomenon of the XIX and XX centuries, I don't think it would be much relevant to the French Revolution, like it isn't today.(Although there were parallels then like there are today)

  • The original reason for it is not even valid anymore (church losing land due to the priests' children inheriting it).

  • Knowing Portuguese and going by its being descended from Latin, the scientific name for the tree is "stinky manure"?
