  • We need some solution to offset mandatory or near mandatory carbon costs though. Obviously as long as we are using carbon for energy production outside of very specific use cases, its a non starter as a scale solution. But things like farming still generate carbon, and we don't have realistic non-carbon options for planes/rockets. The R&D for that also needs to start now. Or like, 30 years ago.

  • Have you ever worked on a game?

  • I don't think this is really viable. Maybe some sort of minimum lifetime.

  • The stuff was a good product imo, just horribly displayed/advertised. Now the brand for it is rightfully tarnished.

  • He wants the resources being spent on graphics to be redirected to engineers and game designers. There is a reasonable top end budget to put towards any given game, so it is at least mostly 0 sum.

  • On a free service sure, on something you are paying for? fuck off.

  • You're like 14 right?

  • I'll admit to not being the most knowledgeable person on internal Israeli politics, but my understanding is hes been holding onto power for a while through a combination of coalitions and judge nonsense. Even then, if he represented the views of 51% of Israeli's that would still be a lot of people who's views don't align with his.

  • Its really not and I challenge you to provide stats that say otherwise. Of course its one of the countries with the most racial tension, but that comes along with being one of the most racially diverse.

  • The thing is, typically you are way way more likely to see results at high concentrations in isolated cells vs in an animal or human at more reasonable exposure rates, so you typically only elevate to animal testing once you've shown some pathway of effect in isolated cells.

  • I'm not sure I get the mailing list part, but this is the type of task modern Machine Learning is actually great at (much better than they are at text or art generation). You have some huge open possibility space the humans can't possibly explore all of, and where false negatives aren't costly. You can use the model to narrow down the possibility space to something manageable for a human to review manually. Very similar to how its used in astrophysics, for example.

  • I'm happy you liked it, but its really quite bad. It ruins character arcs, has bad acting and terrible dialogue, and it apparently never heard of the show don't tell rule.

  • Yes? C is constant and light travels at C in a vacuum, but lights speed is different in other media.

  • Given that it straight up says everyone infected has had close ties to the poultry industry, and a doctor who works at the farm in question is quoted in the article, I think its safe to assume the infected doctors are 1: not human medical doctors, and 2: worked at the farm.

  • I'm not quite old enough to remember that first phase you are talking about, but I'm well old enough to remember the other two, and frankly, during them I don't think the independent niche communities really ever went anywhere. But they are really dying or dead now, and it was discord that killed them.

  • Still no confirmed human to human transmission, they all worked at the same poultry farm. Likely not another world ending pandemic yet.

  • Sedatives are so dangerous that during operations there is a dedicated anesthesiologist. That this was going on blows my mind.

  • We have almost no idea what the sequel looks like. Wait to see what risks it takes before judging.

  • You know cans are just plastic sacs using the tin/aluminum for structure right?
