  • That was pretty exact and a delight to read. There are millions of ppl with common sense who know how to analize basic history like you. The problem in this freak modern media world is no one is allowed to speech 'that long' before being interrupted with some Cpt. Obvious strikes again 'but the right to defend...', 'do you support terrorists' or 'are you antisemite'. Argumentative dialoge is long dead.

  • I think it's pretty obvious. There is no such thing as a database of people with a US plane ticket and the article refers to direct access rather than request to access policy. Direct access then technically includes the whole database, even if the surveiling pretext is certain kind of US travelers.

  • English is not my 1st language and honestly using the word right did feel out of place. I fully understand your concern about the lemmy legal scenario and I wanna make clear it was never my intention to refer to the actual law or human rights.

    I just want to learn what recovery options do Lemmy's system have, that's all. It's a bit confusing there is never an explanation neither notification at all when a post or comment is removed. Not even when banned from a community.

  • Thanks, this is useful. I found an apparently removed meme, but I can't see in which community was posted (and I don't remember either, because it's a year old post) or why was it removed now.

    It's just so wierd my meme with 200 likes was removed more than a year later. There haven't been any activity in it's comments lately either. It was a pretty mild meme too, just criticizing Apple for mining in Africa.

    I may understand better now the confusion and polemics here. This meme might not be the best choice for this topic. While the upper face means refusing to see the good way, then the bottom face implies deliberate wrongdoing, which of course is an obvious journalism work.

    My point in the meme was the hypocrisy of criticizing others while denying our own involvement.

  • Well tbh, I also hate agreing to disagree. Discussion is the civilized solution to conflicts, although it provenly takes a long time to make sides understand each other.

    Nobody knows about everything. As long as the discussion is backed with sources and non-repetitive arguments both sides benefit from it, even when not reaching a consensus.

    Often I realize heated arguments even when both sides have really similar believes. Coming back to the meme's topic, I'm sure you don't see our western mainstream media as fully honest and non-biased journalism. Not that chinese or russian media is any better (far from it), but I believe autocriticism is an essential requirement for a healthy democratic society our foreign ministers brag about.
