  • I see so many comments saying "voting won't work", "protesting won't work" etc. Anything that has any visible result, works. Because the majority of people follow the herd to a greater or lesser extent. You need to mobilise that majority in order to make a difference. The more you have a movement, the bigger, louder and more visible that is, the more people will join you. People need to feel which way the wind is blowing.

  • You'll also live better. It's a sad indictment of society that people incapable of forming meaningful relationships, but able to buy some shiny crap they don't need, are considered successful.

  • Seems to me we're past that. The problem with the "fuck you, I've got mine" principle was the "I've got mine" bit, which requires holding something back from the ultra wealthy. If you can distill it down to a simple "fuck you", you've got yourself a much more low-maintenance philosophy. By turning human suffering into a desired commodity, you can appease your voter base without giving them anything of value.

  • Nobody is born an umpire, you become an umpire if you get bitten by one but umpire parents always have electrical babies

  • Never mind that, what does "07% per 100K" even mean? As far as I can tell that evaluates to 0.0000007 or 7 per 10 million

  • What happens is they eat the cheese and expect to pay for it, but they can't find any means of paying so they die while waiting for a member of staff to turn up. That's because capitalism is nature's way and anything else is against God.

  • I'm sure you can get frozen spring rolls

  • They know perfectly well who they work for

  • or less likely than one-in-a-million

  • Any man who has to say, 'I am the king' is no true king.

  • Oh yeah the community is 1000% better and healthier, I don't miss Reddit at all. Plus I'm a child of the 70s, I grew up with limited content. It's good for you.

  • This is exactly why I don't use Reddit on the side. When I run out of content on Lemmy, there's no choice but to do something productive instead. Had to go 100% cold turkey on Reddit to make that work though.

  • That hairstyle! Though to be fair, I also did some stupid shit thinking it was cool when I was 22.

  • He said I could have it when I prise it from his cold dead fingers. Very nice of him, honestly I was expecting to have to pay for one.

  • yay that'll show him. Another impeachment to add to the collection

  • Need a quick deconsecration order before business can be conducted there

  • I looked at this a few hours back when the sun was shining. Obviously white and gold, no question. Looked at it again just now after the sun went down and the house was darker. It's blue and black. I can't see how it could be white and gold. I'm not sure if this is some joke and I'm being fucked with here, so I've downloaded the image and I'll take another look when the sun's shining again.

  • On the other hand, at least they got rid of The Complete Book of Cats. Absolute filth, I can't believe they let kids read that

  • Designated scapegoat

  • An attack on the military would make a lot of sense. Trump needs to manufacture consent within the military before he can reliably use them to eliminate protests. So this ticks all the boxes. Can't be small scale though. You need a significant death toll, you need spectacle, horror and shock. Needs to be a military installation in a highly visible location. You have to put on a show. Still wouldn't significantly reduce the US's military capacity, and you can bet it's a sacrifice Trump is willing to make. Especially after that disappointing birthday parade.
