Germany's government is also pointing out that the nation needs 100's of thousands of skilled workers to fill jobs. The local training services aren't seeking the enrollments needed to fill the jobs, so where do they come from?
The usual suspects are in huge demand (MSTEM fields), but also anyone skilled in the trades is in high demand.
That's not the same as asylum seekers in general, but with falling birthrates, the EU must import people or the current models must change away from oligarchy-oriented capitalism. Given how the rich people move the decision making, but those same people push right wing populism to oppress populations, they end up in a cleft fork: not enough local workers to feed the baby crushing machine, while requiring xenophobia to maintain their power base. Once the situation becomes untenable, they turn to fascism to maintain their power.
I'm pretty cool with being forgotten most of the time, especially in general "stir the pot to make people fight over stupid shit instead of building guillotines for the real problem" kinds of stuff.
But yes, I drank (and do sometimes drink) from garden hoses. It's just tap water delivered with more volume and outdoors.
If I'm having issues getting to sleep because of stress, I turn on a Mighty Jingles World of Warships video. I usually don't make it past the intro and I'm out.
We are fortunate have moved to Germany from the US. A huge part of the desire to move was the independence for the kids.
Our daughter goes to a school with about 1700 kids attending. There's almost no car traffic to and from the school. There's no car lines, no slow driving of huge metal boxes. Instead, the kids get to school by walking, biking, riding trains, or busses. It's incredibly safe and the kids get to be kids during their transit.
Cars have some utility, but to make them the centerpiece of your mobility is tying shackles to yourself.
The fact that the Black Panthers started open carrying during the Civil Rights Movement was a key reason Conservatives raced to put in gun laws restricting carry and forcing licensing.
Conservatives and other Nazis aren't about rights, just protecting their power over you.
It should just be that the government doesn't patrol the high seas, of course! Every ship should enter into personal 1-on-1 contracts with each pirate for a market appropriate rate to ensure they don't get attacked. The Libertrian way won't cause any issues of scale, rampant loss of merchant ships, and an eventual ending of all oceangoing shipping outside of the handful of ships that can afford their own navies to escort them... /s
I basically built an electronics lab from cheap AliExpress goods. Mostly the parts for projects. Boards, chips, nuts, bolts, boxes. All the bits needed to build embedded systems.
The big stuff (tools, power sources, lights) we're US sources for quality. Most everything else was Chinese junk. I could get five copies of a board from China for the same price as one from the US. I made it to platinum level with over 1000 total orders. When I could order a tiny thing cheap, have it arrive eventually (back then it was often 6-8 weeks), but essentially free shipping I was happy to build up my supplies over time.
Now? No idea who could afford to do the same thing. I'm not rich, but I managed to run whole IoT classes out of my garage with 20+ projects underway. Tinkering gets yet more expensive.
I've been trying the cheaper stuff. Some of it is great. Don't be afraid to try the bottom shelf items these days.
