  • Not everywhere. I rode there a year ago and it was mostly covered, though at least some areas are open for tire grabbing.

  • Also don't use more than a few words or I get bored and need a Tik Tok video to keep me focused between sentences.

  • Too late. I already left a faculty position in the US for Europe. I could have waited a few more months and gotten a better deal since I was moving before the EU started making great offers.

Ah, well, at least my kids don't have to do lockdown training for active shooters anymore and that's worth so very much.

  • Talk to the hand was likely one of the most annoying teenagerisms ever devised and promulgated. That made me want to just deck every kid who pulled it.

  • Psych!

    Not

    Wuzzzzap?

    Radical, dude

    Cowabunga

    The Information Superhighway

    Bud. Wise. Er.

  • One way I've seen it normalized for cars vs flying is by hours of transit time. That way, it demonstrates you're in more or less danger per hour in the vehicle during transit.

  • Or.... Drive fewer cars and run fewer gas motors!!!!

  • If it's just paint it's not protection.

Declaring space for bikes is a start, but until there's a real barrier to protect cyclists (and even pedestrians) it's just a suggestion that drivers don't run you down.

  • In 2021, writer and game designer Alex Blechman inadvertently created a meme:

Sci-Fi Author: "In my book I invented the Torment Nexus as a cautionary tale."

Tech Company: "At long last, we have created the Torment Nexus from classic sci-fi novel Don't Create The Torment Nexus!"

AI is a big component of the new and improved Torment Nexus which is coming along nicely.

So... There's Apple working away on building yet another version of the Torment Nexus.

  • The first one has already been floated. The second just comes later. They're looking at doing an end run on slavery by declaring anyone a criminal, refusing due process, and sending them to work on a farm for nothing.

  • Given the average age in the US Senate, hoping for a collective mental failure during a vote isn't unreasonable. Or just waiting until a few people die off during the process, perhaps?

More likely it should be chalked up to ideological stances overriding democratic compromise. The electorate is so divided with one side (see: alt-right fascists) demanding unreasonable governance. The #1 goal of politicians is usually to get reelected. If they feel their voting base won't accept a compromise they'll sit on their thumbs until the country burns down around them.

  • Es wird jeden Tag geschehen, aber wir sprechen nicht gerne darüber.

  • Infected with the cancer that is car parking.

  • We're both self defeating and stupid. Also, we don't feel that our nation should work to our benefit. It's really a long term 1D chess strat to die early because our nation is a hellhole of our own devising.

    Oh, but we also are basically poor while we do it. We're #1! {According to us}

  • Anyone from Dragonball.

Or Love Hina. There's some great choices there.

  • It relies mostly upon people feeling shame about being denounced. Being impeached is mostly about an official denouncement.

If you don't care, then it means nothing to the individual. It then falls upon the citizens to actually give a fuck about their country having leadership who is more positive than negative. What we've learned in the last handful of years is that about 30% of voters would vote for a king if that king hates the same people they do. Another 30% don't care who runs anything, so a king is fine with them.

So... A ruling monarch the US will have. It's nearing the end of the Republic and Orange Fürher has crossed the Rubicon. Apparently no one cares enough to really deal with it, but we'll surely see lots of walking around on a weekend as to not cause any inconvenience.

Yes, I feel No Kings is the right message, but the actual wherewithal to enforce the Republic isn't visible yet.

  • It's kind of a vote of no confidence that then requires the US Senate to hold a "trial" on whether to remove. Essentially, the House (a more general populace representative body) says "he is bad and should be reviewed'. Then the Senate (which more represents the states, not the public) decides whether to agree and then a removal happens if they do.

Otherwise? It's just the Senate saying "he's fine and we're okay with it", which is what the Republicans are. They're okay with crime and hatred of fellow Americans as long as it's their people doing the hating and criming.
