  • I’ve definitely reduced my intake, I just can’t apply the principle in a strict way. And the “alienating“ comment is just my own experience, I’m glad you didn’t have that issue! This isn’t intended to dissuade anyone from trying to be vegetarian, like I said I think I’m on the wrong side of this. It just personally has been difficult to fully align my moral principles and my actions on this matter.

  • Reubens are possibly the perfect sandwich. Your opinions about butter are correct. Well done.

  • Nice! Do you have a bread preference? Fresh or toasted?

  • Fresh baguette, slice lengthwise. Butter both sides with probably way too much salted butter. Slice cornichon pickles really thin, embed them in the butter. Slice a nice cured meat like sopressata or salami and layer it on top of the pickles. Close and eat as much as you can before your rational mind overwhelms you and forces you to eat something healthy instead.

  • Iron Maiden? Goldfinger? Led Zeppelin? So many better metal bands, come on!!

  • I’ll answer your question!

Pretty sure I’m on the wrong side of vegetarianism. I love animals, I think they’re worthy of love and consideration from us. I know becoming a vegetarian or vegan would reduce harm to animals, and I’m pretty sure it’s the morally correct thing to do. It’s also hard, it’s alienating, and I know every time I’ve attempted it in the past it’s triggered disordered eating.

My current stance is that society should embrace vegetarianism. If the government were to make a law granting animals status that protected them from being killed for food, I’d support that as a moral good. However, I’m not willing to be fully vegetarian in a carnivorous society, there are too many drawbacks. I know this is hypocritical and kinda intellectually pathetic of me but there it is :(

  • I worked at a pet store in college. There was a really chill baby king snake there that I’d hang out with when I was working the cash register. He’d loop around my neck and just hang out like a little snake necklace for hours. Scared the shit out of a few customers who thought he was a piece of jewelry until he moved 😅

  • This would 100% work on me. I would love it if a guy took me to see a bowerbird. Or if he was a bowerbird.

  • This is a primary source, baby! That’s gonna be gold in 120 years!

  • I think you’d be surprised how many people here share your interests. You may not be able to scroll through an album of other people’s projects relevant to your hobby right now, but I bet you can post to a more general community with a very specific question (or show off your own project) and get a good amount of engagement and feedback, maybe even with broader perspective than you might get in a subreddit with an established “meta” for your hobby.

  • I’d like to see us really embrace the improv mantra of “yes, and”. Agreement is great, but add something before you go. Upvote and comment.

  • Yeah, I’m happy for AI to take this particular horrifying job from us. Chances are it will be overtuned (too strict), but if there’s a reasonable appeals process I could see it saving a lot of people the trauma of having to regularly view the worst humanity has to offer without major drawbacks.

  • Before Avril, we called it rollerboarding. The boards were considerably larger and you would propel yourself along with a long pole, like a gondola. Only the wealthy could afford true rollerboards, however, we would make our own with scrap wood. I had one that was a modified old door that I had attached bicycle wheels to the sides of. That board would FLY down hills but you needed the whole neighborhood to pull the damn thing back up again.

  • We’ll call it Brenda: Home for the Holidays

  • Women don’t owe you trust. They have reason to be afraid. There are a lot of shitty men out there. You’re sick of people making assumptions about you, women are sick of being raped and murdered. If you’re not doing anything to change things, then stop whining and let women defend themselves.

  • It’s always had a “libertarian” streak when it comes to business deregulation, but otherwise yeah pretty blue.

  • Were you cross-Shepping?

  • It’s not just your friends you should be giving feedback to, but I think you get what I was trying to say and you’re just being a bit of a pedant right now. You do your thing. If you’re not worried about violence then obviously this comment thread wasn’t meant for you. The guy I was replying to WAS worried about it, so I gave him an actionable way to improve things.

Feels like you’re being very defensive here. Just don’t be a shitty guy, and call out shitty guys when you see them if you want to make shit better. It’s not that deep.

  • So you’ve never overheard someone make a tasteless joke and ignored it or laughed it off? If not, congrats (maybe get your hearing checked though). Right now there are a bunch of right wing douchebags slapping each other on the back over this rape joke. Just say something if you hear it dude, that’s all we really want. Nobody’s going to murder you. Calm down.
