That’s far from an even comparison. Red caps were nothing of note before MAGA unless maybe your favorite sports team use them. The flag of the United States of America carries far more history and significance than a red cap. Any future version of the USA will include the same flag. Every American should identify with it in some level. It’s worth taking control of its meaning and not let it be a synonym for fascism.
But, you’re letting them control the narrative with 🇺🇸=white, racist government and 🇲🇽=unruly protesters.
They want 🇺🇸 to be a symbol of the white oppressors. They want people to look at the protests and see a foreign flag because their whole narrative revolves around immigrants being invaders.
You want most Americans to look at the protesters and see themselves.
Glasses. (I don’t know, I’m prejudiced for people with glasses.)
Old women.
I could probably come up with a lot more. We’re all prejudiced in some way. It’s the things that we’re prejudiced about and how attached we are to those prejudices that define us.
he could have rolled back everything Bush did. The Afghanistan invasion, the extraordinary rendition, the "enhanced interrogation", the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act. He could have ended all of those.
The USA was already heavily bogged down in Afghanistan when Obama took office. He could not have simple pulled out. Look at all the shit Biden took when he did after involvement had already been scaled back.
Obama did end torture at Guantanamo.
American Presidents don’t have the power to repeal laws.
Obama wasn’t perfect—not even great. But, those are weird things to lay on him.
Read up on her and her family’s history. She’s had ties to Putin going way back.
Either she’s impartial or doing Putin’s bidding. If you know anything about her, impartiality is not her thing. Her history with Russia strongly suggests the latter.
Aren’t USA’s university students’ tuition subsidized by the federal government and states to some degree? But, foreign students are paying the full cost?
Won’t fewer foreign students mean more expensive education for USA residents?
It’s a question that’s been considered over and over again throughout history by academics and philosophers. There’s well-researched books on the topic by experts.
Asking Lemmy is like asking some random person on the street what this whole quantum mechanics thing is about.
You could read up on the subject and discuss particulars with other people interested in the topic. It’s not a subjective question to drop on a bunch of random doom scrollers.
Have you seen the quality of the comments and posts? It’s mostly pointless garbage spewing—yes, myself included. I’m convinced that part of the reason LLMs can be so bad at times is that they are fed on random peoples’ boredom and doom posting.
Sure, there’s some quality posts occasionally. Sometimes people have interesting, worthwhile discussions. But, like Reddit before it, most of the posting is memes, snark and venting. It’s not good content on average. If LLMs are training on barely-moderated forums, they are not getting a good education.
In their homes they can’t have technology but go out back to the massive pole barns where they build gazebos and sheds and you’ll see plenty of electric tools and other tech.
Not sure if that would extend to computer tech, though.
I thought it was obvious it was a joke. 🤷♂️
