  • Oh I thought you were saying that about Google. It looks like this is only surveys, so I would say it's not a comparable alternative outside of that.

  • Why are we looking for alternatives to Cryptpad again?

  • My argument is that it's illegal for the govt to regulate such speech.

What kind of accountability were you referring to? Were you expecting tech billionaires to hold themselves accountable?

  • There's a little thing called "free speech". Govt doesn't have the power to regulate speech.

E: Never though I'd live in a world where people were falling over themselves to regulate speech. What a sick sad world it is. Can you just for a millisecond imagine what that looks like when the shoe is on the other foot? What do you think fascists would do with that sort of power?

  • I watched a video last night. Some guy was banned from a casino. All they had was a blurry surveillance camera photo of him.

The AI tagged some other guy as him. Cops came and arrested him. Said the man's ID must be fake, or he used a fake ID last time because there's no way their high-fallutin AI could be wrong! It was >99% certain!

  • Go ahead. My OS belongs to me. It does what I say. If you want it to tell you I'm an adult, it will.

  • Blast, foiled again!

  • I mean Jitsi is the most obvious solution.

I use MiroTalk since Jitsi implemented "moderator" authorization.

  • I mean they made a console for the same reason as everyone else: They wanted a dedicated DRM machine. One that they can control from bottom to top.

  • Great to see more Piefed support. I really like Photon but they seem to be throwing minimal effort at Piefed (which is fine, of course).

  • Thanks, I'm not a web wizard and didn't want to upload it on piefed servers.

  • It says why in the blog post

  • Correct
