  • Maybe unpopular opinion but I like connected stuff. I like what you can do with modern tech. I think it's cool to have a coffee maker or something hooked up to Home Assistant so you can start a brew from your phone when you wake up.

What I don't like is when I can't control the tech. The only way I'd ever allow smart appliances is if the data never left my network and I took reasonable steps to ensure the IOT devices are isolated and secured.

  • Recently, UnifiedPush where I can (currently just Megalodon for Mastodon sadly) as an alternative to using Google's push notifications.

  • Mayhaps if you had more funnies in your mental, you wouldn't feel so illnessed by the manipulatious nature of their wordiness.

  • I miss the OC porn and algorithms but it's whatever. I like Mastodon

  • Does such an order actually exist or do they pull it out of their ass in some convenient interpretation?

  • I'll pass on having evil corps like Google put AI in my car.

Comma.ai is open source and does exactly what you are describing as that "head unit", not too mention is widely compatible with many car manufacturers.

  • Some enshittified Lemmy alternative run by a megalomaniac who sucks Elon's dick behind Wendy's dumpsters and milks his userbase (but not in the fun way)

  • Some high tech alien's porn stash is embedded in the fabric of our universe and that's the reason we exist.

  • I'm surprised everyone didn't realize it right from the beginning before things got to this point. Better late then never, I - suppose.

  • FYI the 41% of instances that block or limit Threads (from the source data which doesn't have every instance), accounts for 24% of the user base of the fediverse.

  • Data hoarding and self-hosting every service under the sun.

  • Always have been, and they're in it for the long game. They've already acquired a stupid amount of control on the web and web standards with everything from Chromium to Youtube, not to mention it doesn't help that they basically control the world's most popular mobile OS. Google wants it all if we let them.
