  • Except Canada is going to have to reciprocate in kind. This is basic game theory, tit for tat. We can't allow ourselves to get stepped on without hitting back.

  • Heyyy relax guy!

  • As a 30yo unmarried asexual introvert, I also get totally thrown off when people ask if I'm married or have kids.

A few weeks ago somebody straight up asked me what my wife does for work and I had to process that for a second before I could even think of a response.

  • The idea behind a ransom is that all parties need to believe with certainty that as long as money is exchanged, then nobody gets hurt. As soon as there's doubt about getting paid or about being released, then suddenly there's turmoil for any other party to hold up their end.

If I'm told I need to pay a ransom to get somebody freed but I know they may not be released even after I pay, then I may not pay. So it's in the captors best interest to always release them upon receiving payment.

Then again we're dealing with desperate, possibly evil people with no sense of morality and who will never have considered game theory before. Real life is messy.

  • matrix.org - new tiers for premium and free accounts on the matrix.org homeserver

    Jump
  • I mean if the idea is to get people off of the matrix.org homeserver and onto smaller federated servers, this might accomplish at least half of that.

  • Speaking as a player that doesn't use proxies, if the people I play with suddenly all started to compete with stronger and stronger decks using proxied cards, I'd feel more likely to quit playing with them than try to keep up. Not everyone is looking for power.

  • I would say so. As long as you aren't abusing the secondary market to proxy cards that are totally out of reach for your play group's power level

  • How is this still alive?!

Because it's fun to play? People buying and hoarding cards because of their monetary value is certainly something that happens, but this is first and foremost a game.

  • As a severe introvert I could not imagine having another human living in my house. After working with people for 8 hours all day, 5 days a week, I do not want to come home to have more social interaction without at least a short buffer to cool down.

  • Um, acktually some of us went from vanilla Debian to Nobara to vanilla Debian.

  • Nothing ever happens in this town,Feeling low down, not a lot to do around here,I thought that I would go right out of my mind,Until a friend told me the news

  • And people voted for Trump because "at least you know what you're getting with him."

  • Sorry, I think I understand the video but my question was only tangentially related

  • ELI5 please:

Apollo 13 is one of my favourite movies of all time, but one thing that always sticks out to me when I watch it is when they need to shutdown all systems to conserve power, the spacecraft becomes cold enough for the inside to freeze. I've looked this up and it is something that actually happened during the real emergency, but I've never been able to wrap my head around how a capsule with three people inside is able to freeze when the exterior is exposed to direct sunlight.

  • Is it comfortable in the hand? The surface looks super rough

  • Canadians voted for the party that would keep the CPC out of power

  • I was starting to eyeball the Priority Current Plus but the price on that bike is a bit steep. The Glide might be more my speed.

  • I'll get right on that after I've started

  • 1 meter is not very far. I can take a step in 1 meter easy. 500 is not very big. I can count to 500 easy.

But then you realize that actually 500 meters is a half kilometer and you know that a kilometer isn't exactly a short distance to walk in a hurry.
