  • Wikipedia is a massive project with dozens of sister projects, all in over 300 languages, operating in hopefully every country on Earth.

I'm not going to argue WMF truly needs this exact amount of money, they definitely have wasted it on nonsense too, but through time, I did notice some cases where having significant funds is necessary. Sadly the most egregious case was a lawsuit in India where WP and several editors were accused of libel or something because they objectively described what some crooked businessman did. So, they had to pay the lawyers. In UK they also had to pay lawyers to defend their position while UK was introducing rigid regulations that could strongly affect WP's operation there (I forgot the details but some people outright proposed WP self-blocking in UK to avoid having to deal with the regulation).

  • Well, of course. If you're not an expert, it's pretty much impossible to understand an out-of-context passage from a more technical or abstract paper.

  • They all have thigh highs, you just don't see it in the pictures.

  • I have every right to criticize.

What you wrote wasn't criticism ("I like it / I don't like it"), it was a true/false statement. But yeah, state leaders even in Catholic countries don't seem to care about his direct proclamations of this sort.

  • He's the leader of the most widespread denomination of the most widespread religion in the world. He selects cardinals all over the world, has influence on church doctrine, etc. Yes, many listen to him and have to listen to him. You're probably from the US (primarily protestant) and atheist, but don't project that perspective on the entire world.

  • What?

  • they should have been trying to alert people to it

They would probably end up being criminally prosecuted for leaking the info, and I doubt some rando would be believed this stuff anyway, or even be able to reach any relevant audience. Unless they were a journalist (apparently some knew about it but kept silent), but again, leaking this would be suicidal.

They profited off having good connections in a powerful imperialist state, and the naïve gamblers; dead civilians were irrelevant for the outcome. There's way too many layers of rot at play for me to find this story in specific to be notably bad.

  • Fair enough.

But I still don't see the problem with the way the guy won. The actual problems are the gambling website itself and people being stupid/gullible/addicted enough to waste money on it.

  • What's sick about that, though? Guy had reliable insider info and made money off a cancerous gambling site. Good for him.

  • Lol, I assumed it might besome sort of euphemism/self-censorship like "unalive" and "🍇". But I don't think Trump pronounces it like that, he kind of pronounces the 'ch' more "sharply", so to say, but he doesn't outright make it voiced.

  • Ghina

    Why write it like this?

  • 4chan-tier childish elitism in Facebook-tier packaging 👍

  • If you actually check the article it's mostly just some super trivial stuff like modifying details about capitalisation and spaces.

Polish spelling is quite conservative, but not unreasonable.

  • Oh damn, just as I'm preparing for my Polish exam in two weeks!

  • Can you recommend any such patched app for Facebook?

  • Ok, thank you for explaining.

  • You can be a Zionist without being Jewish, e.g. see Trump, Biden, Kamala, Bush, and basically every other establishment US and Western politician.

Does expressing support for an establishment politician of this sort make one a Zionist as well?
