For all your owl related needs!

  • I mean, if we're talking Ant-man style where I can go in and out of short mode, that could open up a lot of opportunities.

Permanent shrunken state would interfere with too many other opportunities, and I'm just not self aware enough to probably make it more than a few days without being smashed or eaten.

  • To be fair, I don't think any of our owls would fare very well if I sat on them. They aren't quite as big (or I'm not near as small?) as in this drawing.

I don't think they like my spear very much either, but people generally stay quiet, and far away, when I bring it. 😁

  • They don't let me do that at work 😔

I did get some human-less pics of a Short Ear that resemble this owl's pose for my queue though!

  • Annette @ Wild Heart Ranch:

I'll never forget my journey with Slick. He was so poor when he arrived he couldn't hold his own head up, and was even too delicate to bathe. I had to get him stable first. We wiped him down as best we could and I tucked him in that first night with a bolster (neck pillow to lift his head) expecting the worst. The next morning, as shown in the second photo, he had spent part of the night fighting with his bolster and winning, but the little foam balls had stuck to him everywhere, and he looked so annoyed I had to laugh at him. I still smile at that photo.

Slick was a lot of work and his strength and stamina recovered long before he was through with his mayo/dawn baths. He was quite the handful. To watch him fly away was a miracle.

  • That owl is from that part of the world....you may be onto something. But did the Slavs learn it from the owls or the owls from the Slavs?

  • lol I vote the tall version.

  • Snowies are a lot of fun. They're born all white, then their baby feathers are almost all black, then they go through an awkward middle stage where they're part black and part black and white, then all white with black spots, and then finally the males gradually "go bald" by losing spots usually from the head and chest down.

    Strange Teen Phase

  • It's out for lunch. Will return shortly.

  • I wish it the best! Lead and rodenticide poisoning is really tough to watch, and they are normally very affected by the time they can be captured.

  • Ohhh JKR, how ironic (appropriate?) she misgendered the owls in the books and movies.

Hedwig is described as a lady owl, mostly white with just some black speckles here and there. All Snowies start off with adult pluage that is very highly speckled, but the females keep all their speckling while the males lose it over time, so book/movie Hedwig would be a solidly mature male Snowy. Hence in the movies, Hedwig was played by 7 different male Snowy Owls, otherwise they'd look like this:

  • That's what I'm talking about!

  • Hah, they certainly do! 😶 😶

  • It's just the tip of the iceberg! Since they need to stay light enough to fly, every bit of them is packed with max awesomeness.

I could go on about them all day.

  • They're experts in their field... And their trees!

  • These owls know how to party!
