For all your owl related needs!

  • I try to make anyone that does participate feel like their comments/posts matter. I engage back with everyone so they feel seen/heard. I try to pay attention to what topics they want to discuss. I try to find new things they probably haven't seen on their own to keep them surprised. I mainly just act like the people here are already my friends and treat them as such since it's such a relatively small space.

  • Truely...unforgettable! 😁

  • Oh my, even I'd need a lot of Tylenol to listen to a full Barn Owl album! 🙉😅

  • I've been back on a pickled egg kick. I use this guy's recipe.

Especially if you have a handful about to go out of date, this keeps them from going to waste.

Otherwise, the soy marinated ramen eggs are probably the best eggs. Delicious and comes with a bowl of ramen on the side.

  • And one that seems much more content with the fact than usual! 💤

  • By the time we know....it may already be too late.... 😰

  • I always wonder how many napping owls I pass by in the trees. I'm much too fidgety to sit there and scan trees well enough. 😊

Perhaps this owl also grew up decorating cakes.

  • If one is ever in Pittsburgh, the Heinz History Center has a Fred Rogers exhibit with a ton of stuff to get the nostalgia going with sets, puppets, props, and outfits. I really enjoyed it and the rest of the museum is great as well.

  • Send it my way, we just got more snow.

  • Even the trees wish it was still Sunday. 😴

  • "Huh? Just a box..."

  • One can go to other language versions of the Wikipedia as well and the info is different. The pages aren't just translations from English.

I'll check out different countries' pages sometimes to see different culture references or to see what names are in other languages. Very useful.

  • They hatch white. If you really zoom in, you can see the speech at the end of the beak. That's the egg tooth that helps it break free. It falls off after a few days.

The back feathers will start to grow in over the white down, so they'll take on a charcoal color.

As adult plumage comes in, they look stuck somewhere between a big ashy baby and an adult.

Eventually they will have all their adult feathers. As they age, the males will lose most or all their spots and be almost pure white.

  • We can look politely, but not touch. 😇
