  • Honestly, militant is probably not the right word. But I work with Prusas at my workplace, and the idea of buying a non-Prusa printer actually irks me.

  • In my opinion, the only disadvantage is the cost.

But even the cost difference might get recouped later on, if Prusa continues releasing upgrade kits the way they've been doing it for the i3 line. Support is also excellent. I broke a thermistor while upgrading a printer, and they sent me a free replacement because it was unclear if it was my fault or not.

Another disadvantage might be that you'll become a militant Prusa fanboy, and never look at another brand again ;)

  • would recommend using an enclosure for all prints anyhow, even pla gives off some nasties as far as I recall.

I just have to clarify that this is only useful if your enclosure also has a filter.

  • If I were to buy a budget 3d printer right now, I'd probably buy the Sovol SV06 Ace. I dont have any firsthand experience though, I've only ever worked with Prusas at work.

  • Imagine being dragged by the bullet all the way to its destination.

  • Thanks, I just loosened the extruder idler (?) to roll it back up and restarted the print. Didn't think of cleaning the filament first, but anything touching the floor has gone through the hotend now.

  • I remember the last time I read a similar story, it was mainly toddlers that died. So... Mixed bag.

  • Pleco does it for Chinese.

  • Thanks for the writeup! The mmu3 assembly instructions do mention I need longer PTFE tubes if I want to combine it with the enclosure, so I dont think there's avoiding that. We'll have two enclosures with MMUs next to each other, so having the spools hanging on the outside feels a little too unsightly.

I'm eyeing the (un)original drybox too, but it's adding quite a bit of cost.

  • And hardware upgrades.

  • Do you have any advice on putting the spools inside the enclosure? I haven't put our MMU3s together yet, but all the official photos show the spools on the outside.

  • Doesn't magic wormhole do that? I remember there used to be a few websites providing a web interface for it, but I can't seem to find them anymore.

  • "Nooo"

  • I read this in French first, which made it funnier.

  • I'm sorry, a 'Minecraft related cause'?

  • 7 years is only for newer models.

  • I was under the impression that Graphene OS stops support for Pixel models at the same time as Google does.

  • Most of the CAD software mentioned here will not be super helpful in modifying meshes (like STLs), but they're great if you want to redesign the part from scratch :)

Tinkercad is the exception, as it works with meshes and booleans.
