She would never acknowledge the fact that she wanted me aborted, so it’s not something I’ve heard justified. This is a family tree defined by sexual violence, so there are a lot of topics which exist in that liminal space.

Republican women live in a world that is governed by fear and control. Abortion being an option removes that aspect of fear. There is something in it that works the same way a “kink” does, that if one follows the rules and takes the hurt, everything works out in the end. Why would you take out the hurt/is it actually a feasible option to take out the hurt?

But to actually answer your question, asking her the question would just not get a response.

The NRA was founded as a pretty reasonable organization - here’s a quote from their president, Karl Frederick, in 1934:

I have never believed in the general practice of carrying weapons. I seldom carry one. I have when I felt it was desirable to do so for my own protection. I know that applies in most of the instances where guns are used effectively in self-defense or in places of business and in the home. I do not believe in the general promiscuous toting of guns. I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses.

It got taken over by Birchers and racists in the 1970’s, being rational and non partisan for most of its life before them.

Stitt has been doing his damnedest to fuck with McGirt. There’s regular social media meltdowns over indigenous hunting and fishing rights.

The state is corrupt to its core - the FBI was literally created because of a massive and high level conspiracy to bomb Osage natives and take their land rights, which the Oklahoma government could not be trusted to investigate. There are lots of small towns where the law is whatever the guy who owns the car dealership says.

The bait and switch is such a thing.

I hated chemistry. My brain wants science that is as much as possible about doing pure math. I don’t want to be memorize exceptions to every little rule and naming conventions that also have exceptions. I wanted to teach physics, I interviewed for physics. I get the job, then I find out I’m teaching chemistry.

They didn’t care that i wasn’t certified for chemistry, and that I scraped through that certification test (because I’m not going to teach anything I’m not certified to teach and took the test before the school year started) with knowing what a hydrogen bond was, much less anything covered in an organic chemistry class….

I also had classes that were 2/3 special education, which mandated a coteacher. I met her in 3 weeks in and saw her once a month, because she needed to serve as a substitute teacher. I was not certified in SPED at the time, and the IEPs they gave me were a literal excel spreadsheet with the accommodations ticked off which is beyond illegal.

The system is so beyond broken. No one seems to give a shit but there are parts of the country which are just failing.

I guess he just declared for lieutenant governor, not the main governor. I follow him a bit because he’s unfortunately attracted the people who are angry about our shitshow of a child welfare system.

Drummond will probably win, which is goddamn frustrating because he presents himself as a “moderate” when he’s just as raving of a lunatic as the rest of them. (Refusing to press charges on the cop who beat the shit out of that Vietnamese man, not doing shit about Walters…)

What gets me is the complete lack of respect, while also having standards that expect you to be a saint.

Teaching title 1, after the district reorganized and combined schools with rival gangs - roster changing every day, buses showing up hours late, not being allowed to kick disruptive students out of the classroom, and having to withstand verbal abuse…

They want you to be Jesus. Spend your own money on supplies, focus on “building a relationship” with the student who screamed “fucking f-ggot” in front of the principal at you…

Matthew 25:36-40 has Jesus being pretty explicit about his followers being called to feed the hungry and comfort the sick.

I have a lot of respect for Christians who understand their Christianity and Jesus’s sacrifice as an obligation to take up the cross and follow him. I don’t have a lot of respect for “Christians” whose belief system solely amounts to their pastor telling them that god hates gays.

I hold a Bachelors in American History and am in fact certified to teach high school history.

Notice how you couldn’t be arsed to provide a historical argument or evidence that you know anything about the time period?

Fuck you. No, the murder of Renee Good is not comparable to soldiers getting confused about an order to fire when they were literally getting pelted with rocks.

Christ. Obviously Adam’s should haven’t of defended them, they should have just been executed on sight. Makes perfect sense.

Maybe read some primary sources from the time period, instead of trying to argue about a topic you haven’t looked into since high school.
