  • Its not FOSS but if you need a work alterative to GIMP I use Photopea a lot. Works as a PWA too.

I've been using design software for over 25 years; Photoshop has been there for the majority but I've often tried coming back to GIMP here and there, but it's never grabbed me in a useable way.

  • I've been using cal.com for a while and it's pretty good. I think you can self host it too.

  • Oh wow I haven't thought about Thomann and Harley Bentons in years!

  • Yeah I'm an older millennial and there are things I don't have in common with younger ones.

Kamala just slips in as a boomer technically, by like a year or something.

  • I thought millennials started at '82?

  • We call it a sausage sizzle (democracy sausage at voting time) and they're delicious 🤤

  • Yep, and it's compulsory voting, on a sensible day of the week and even pre-poll so you can just go in early if you want to. And sometimes there are sausages.

  • Oh, no disrespect intended! Where I come from though we use cheese instead of curds, it's practically a national dish.

  • Cheese and gravy (not the Canadian thing)

  • Huh, I actually had to look at the At a Glance but to see what you were talking about. I've just taken it as a given that I can't use the top 1/3 of the screen or the bottom strip.

I'm not a gestures guy at all, I like buttons!

  • I feel like I'm the only one who still reverts navigation to the 3 dots and doesn't use any of the new stuff they're releasing.

This taskbar looks like it's going to make things happen without me wanting them to, I hope we can turn it off.

  • I have a whole collection of to-do lists! One for every conceivable situation. The only lists that ever get checked off are grocery lists, and even then I get home and realise I've forgotten something.

  • Damn, I used to like their crunch corners.

  • Not the whole country but Mallorca and the Canary Islands had similar protests. I do wonder how the south coast feels about all the Brits going there.

  • I degoogled to Proton mail initially. I didn't like that I couldn't search my emails (a security thing or something? But annoying) and then their Drive was absolutely useless on macos. I had about 100gb and it couldn't sync even half of it.

After much help from support I eventually moved away to a combo of Fastmail, Mega and OnlyOffice.

  • Same with Australia. Seems a bit disingenuous to say it's banned, it's a government worker policy.

  • Yeah I guess if you've been using it for a long time and have favourites built up that would work. I remember when YouTube started and it was pretty good, but with every video trying to game the algorithms I couldn't imagine trying to start afresh now.

  • The people that say it's their main form of entertainment must have to wade through so much crap to get to anything good, I just don't see the point.
