I'd argue that Lemmy and the wider fediverse aren't simple and effortless enough as they are right now. There's a reason that Bluesky took off when Mastodon didn't.
It's very much not. There are plenty of people who do not only not have the knowledge (and the time, interest or even ability to learn) to self-host anything, but who also don't know anyone who does. That's probably a majority of people, actually. We need privacy-respecting, open alternatives that function as drop-in replacements and that are just as intuitive and easy to use as corporate offerings. Otherwise the future is corporate shit.
Peaceful being the operative word. If Taiwan democratically elects to join the PRC then yes, Germany would accept that. If China invades and holds a Russia style "referendum" then no, Germany would not consider that legitimate. Only one of those is a likely scenario, and it's not the first one.
Phone speakers these days are fairly decent. Will good headphones/speakers with a good DAC and AMP and a lossless audio file sound better? Well, duh. Are phone speakers adequate for the vast majority of people who aren't audiosnobs, sorry, audiophiles? Also yes. Just don't be that asshole using speakers in public spaces.
That's a vast oversimplification of the thought process and emotions that's going on there and an extremely uncharitable one at that (most people have their own lives to worry about, it's usually less "I can't drive where I want to" and more "I have to get to work"), but essentially yes. That's the reality you have to work with.
Those do work better. Antagonising the people whose support you rely on to effect change is a horrible strategy, the more of a disturbance protests cause to the average person, the less likely said average person is to be supportive.
Es ist ja nicht Mal ein 5% Ziel, es ist ein 3,5% Ziel. Die anderen 1,5% gehen in militärisch nutzbare Infrastruktur wie Eisenbahnen, Straßen, Brücken, Häfen, etc.
Kind of, yes. A lot of it is historical accounts of varying credibility. But it's important to always be aware that those accounts were written centuries after the events that they're telling us about, and are heavily mythologised and extremely biased.
Modi has been in office since before Trump's first term.
ETA - he was also elected despite him being complicit in an anti-Muslim pogrom in 2002 being public knowledge.
