  • Go to your "Saved Messages" chat there you can save notes or use mini-apps in private, click the paperclip attachment button select the apps button you will see the mini-apps list, some useful apps are the to-do list app to track things you need to do or shopping lists, and the one called TOTP is the one I was talking about for 2FA PINs, the Time tracking app is also useful

  • FairMail is for classic unsecure email, DeltaChat is for secure end-to-end encrypted chatting

  • I used it for a while, it is quite good, but I recently switched to a webxdc (in-chat mini-app) in Delta Chat which allows me to access the codes from any device where I have Delta Chat installed and adding a new token in one device synchronizes to all other devices this also mean that my tokens are safe if one of my devices die and I will not lose them. All of this is without depending on a server holding your data

  • Delta Chat no where to be found there 🤔

  • Love it how "enshitification" is becoming a common word

  • I love how the alternative to American chatting apps is yet another centralized American chatting app running on a plethora of American services from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Cloudflare etc. And based on phone numbers where they can easily cut down comms for Europeans at any given time the US gives the orders

    🤡🤡🤡

  • Even Gmail allows to use the email client of your choice, going for an email provider that force you to use their app is a bummer

  • No, it is not. 🚮

  • It is for encrypted email only, its possible if the other people use some client that supports encryption, if you question is "can the email provider be used to send and receive unsecure unencrypted email that the server would have access to and read all my conversations?" the answer is no, the app can be used with such unsecure providers but arcanechat.me server is focused on security and no unencrypted email/data is ever stored on the server

  • If you use ArcaneChat (https://arcanechat.me/) or DeltaChat (https://delta.chat/) there is an in-chat mini-apps for split bills, you can use it with groups of friends totally private end-to-end encrypted between chat members without the need of any online service for split bills

  • It is an email provider but for encrypted email and optimized for speed and security, to use for chatting, the app looks like WhatsApp etc but every message is just an encrypted email

  • It is also possible to run GUI desktops in Termux since ages, for example take a look at:

AnLinux (Run Linux On Android Without Root Access) https://f-droid.org/packages/exa.lnx.a/

It was also possible to run a "full Debian" using PRoot etc

  • If what you want is encrypted email, and see it in the form of a chat, take a look at ArcaneChat

  • thanks, I think I know that one, but yeah as you said it is not a real security audit and the person itself said so

  • thanks!

  • could you provide some source/link to the SimpleX security audits? I would like to look into it, thanks in advance!

  • does Briar has security audits you could point to? thanks in advance
