  • yeah my wife was the same.

  • I'm having trouble with this show. It's a weird mix of cringe humor (which I generally enjoy), but also some serious dramatic/family/psychological issues. One problem is I feel like the cringe stuff downplays the seriousness of the family/personal issues.

Then of course there's the bizarre conspiracy plot which is incredibly slow moving. I can't tell yet if it's a genuine conspiracy or if the point is this guy gets too obsessive about things and needs to learn to let stuff go and enjoy his family. Will see where it goes, just feels a bit confusing in the middle.

  • Had a similar experience with KT Tunstall.

  • consider this. most musicians don't have [n]early as much money as Paul McCartney. Even Paul McCartney didn't have much money when he was starting out in the 60s.

  • It's more than that. genAI can't create music out of the ether. It has to be trained first, meaning it basically "listens" to a shit ton of music before it can generate any music. That means:

    1. Its music will be 100% derivative with no true creativity at all. Do you just want a mishmash of all pre-existing music forever?
    2. most importantly, the artists whose music the genAI was trained on were likely not compensated at all for that training. So not only is the music ecosystem going to be inundated with AI slop, but we've stolen from working musicians to do it.
  • be realistic my friend.

  • you're saying protesting the use of AI to make music is gatekeeping entry? It's more like protecting the IP of fellow musicians. How do you think AI was trained to make music? Do you think musicians were compensated for that training?

  • so? other businessmen only like AI because it makes them money.

like it or not money is important in our society, even for artists.

  • also they have nothing to do with microsoft at all. why bend over backwards to keep the "MS" part of the name?

  • isn't everything a snapshot of the world before it changed?

  • remember if you're paying for any kind of cable TV, including youtube TV, part of the fees you pay are going to fascist mouthpieces like Fox News.

  • who cares, fuck em all.

  • Cunk on Marvel

  • honestly though how much battery do you need on an average day?

  • the vast majority of people put cases around their phones which eliminates the camera protrusion. If you do use a case with an Air, it'll still be thinner than the other iphone options.

  • or maybe there are other reasons people don't want it. crazy huh.

  • if this was my year to upgrade i might have gotten one. I use a magsafe wallet which evens out the back with the camera bulge.

99% of my days the battery would probably be sufficient, but if I'm going on a trip or whatever I can use a magsafe charger. You can't do the opposite with a thick phone; you're just carrying unnecessary bulk every single day.

the main issue for me is the price. I like the idea, but I'm not sure how much of a premium I want to pay for it, if any.

  • not sure what that has to do with my point, which is "politics became pop culture".

  • the president is a reality TV star.
