    Even as rich as he is, he still finds the time every single two weeks to visit some po-dunk community, miles off the main highway, not even a Walmart within two hours, simply to find good ol' American salt of the Earth type people that don't even recognize him.

    Once he arrives at that destination, it's not off to the most expensive kept-secret B&B, it's not off to the most expensive trail boss for exotic hunting, no no, it's to the cheapest fucking cost cutters barber that side of Oklabama to get that godawful Data-from-Star-Trek:TNG haircut.

    Or at least I hope that's the story behind his hair, because there can be no other plausible reason for it.

  • It seems like if these Polish farmers get what they want in the short term, then they'll be so much worse off in the long term.

    In regards to Ukraine: If Ukraine is not able to sell to the rest of Europe, then Ukraine is weakened, and more susceptible to being invaded by Russia. If Russia is successful in Ukraine, Poland is surely not too far from being invaded next. A Poland that's trying to fend off a Russian invasion is less likely to have a fruitful economy than in peacetime.

    In regards to climate: If the climate is fucked, then ain't nobody growing/selling as many crops.

    Both seem so shortsighted - am I missing something?

  • In basic training our barracks would get "white glove" inspections, where the drill instructor would wear a literal white glove and run his finger over surfaces to detect anything that wasn't clean, dry, and serviceable. And I'm not talking about just the obvious places, but also things like under the benches in the showers, or up and in a wall locker ledge.

    The ultimate goal wasn't to hand out demerits, it was to instill a sense of attention to detail in us. They asked us how could we be trusted to maintain nukes for example, when we failed to even find that stray clump of soap scum and pubes in the shower.

    So that's all to say: If the boeing apparatus is so fucked that doors are falling off their aircraft mid-flight, what the fuck else have they missed?

    Here's a good one: I like to by small-time silver bullion, and ebay is actually a decent place for that. The first time I saw gimmick silver coins and bars with Trump's face on them, I was like wtf. And even to this day, there's some seriously wtf stuff out there all geared towards the maga persuasion.

    It would be pretty comical, if it weren't so crazy how much he's being idolized. He's being elevated to the level of Reagan worship, even before he's been planted in the ground. I'm calling it now: After Trump croaks, the GOP is gonna try and pass a law to create a permanent federal Trump holiday.

    Meaning, two things:

    1. I think the submitted proposals are likely multifaceted, and conscription is but one potential facet
    2. I bet more than one proposal also employs conscription

    I wonder if any reports will ever be publicly published about these proposals.
