  • You can upvote good discussion and points that are wrong or you disagree with. I downvote assholes and people who add nothing to the discussion.

  • No idea, but they have the option, just like me.

  • Yeah, they would wait for me in most meetings. In 75% of the meetings I participate in, I'm a key person and have to provide meaningful information, some of it based on the discussion in the meetings. If I had "mic issues" in them, they'd want me to start showing up early to address them before the meeting. And thus we're back to square one.

  • I have all that turned off. A new chat pertaining to the meeting is added to the list of chats, but I don't see that unless I'm looking at the Teams window.

  • Does this guy reminds anyone else of the Walrus and the Carpenter from Alice in Wonderland?

  • All of them.

  • Yes, when I was young we had an outdoor cat for like 8-10 years. She had litter after litter of kittens (my parents should have gotten her spayed, or course, but it just didn't happen). One day she didn't come home, which was unusual for her. So, we went looking for her and called out to her. We eventually gave up for the night. We didn't see her the next day, and couldn't find her. A few days later when still looking for her, we spotted her. There were a couple of wooden lots between us and the next neighbor. She was on their porch sitting on their patio furniture. We took her home and gave her love and food. The next day she was gone. She was back at the neighbor's. We just left her because it was clear she was where she wanted to be. She knew how to get back to my house, but she was already home--it just wasn't mine. It was sad, but we weren't going to restrain her. The neighbors didn't mind. So, she got to retire.

  • We all knew that was a lie for most of them. They just didn't have the power or public support. It's not that they have more support now, but the support is way more public.

  • Ugh. We don't like all the stuff they shoved down our throats with 11. I hate to imagine 13.

  • I think that's Trump's fault for cultivating an image of a slovenly, gluttonous blob of malice and stupidity. He was Jabba embodied long before now. The biggest differences between them is that Jabba was a smart and successful businessman, illegal as most of it may have been.

  • Ruined or improved with analogous context?

  • Or less, depending on species.

  • Nah. It'd be like it is on a poorly made video game.

  • Sure, but if we had to pick one, I'd say microwave. Deepfry is enjoyed by all, but mostly a southern thing.

  • I'm American. We choose microwaving.

  • Haha Glad someone made the meme! I had this thought and posted a comment just a few hours before this was posted.

  • Trump does ceasefires like Michael Gary Scott does bankruptcy.

  • You can't have peace and be oppressing people, not really. If the oppressed stand up to the oppression, there will be fighting. So, it's more like the early stages of a fight. The same as when you're starting a campfire and you get a few embers, it's not really a campfire yet, but it's still a fire. In this case, the embers may last a long time, but the full fire is coming.

Also, in the definition of peace is tranquility. Oppression and tranquility do not overlap.

I think your take is probably just antiquated and contains a bit of sexism, homophobia, and racism. I don't mean to say that you are those things, but the roots of that take come from that position. You may have just adopted a take that was already out there and didn't challenge its premise at the time.

  • "If you're supposed to know, you already know."
