  • There's also the issue of Vader not knowing that they have that technology, how it's operated, and where that operator is in the ship.

A small away team could covertly transport aboard and disable the Star Destroyer's weapons, while the captain keeps Vader's attention on the bridge.

As for the issue of shields, those have always been less useful in SW than ST, so maybe a few well-placed blasts could disable those beforehand. Or they're not strong enough to stop the transporter beam, or something else. Trek's writers could probably come up with a decent enough excuse for it to work.

  • My bag goes in the floor in front of me, between my legs, or in my lap if there's no room. The only time I put it on the seat next to me is if the bus is almost empty, there's no worry that I'm keeping anyone who needs a seat from sitting.

  • Straight up the cloaca.

  • Ibf it was high-speed at the time, we've just surprised it since... Super-duper speed.

  • I mean, I get it. Crabs are delicious.

  • Biden already has one, funny enough, given to him by Obama in his final days of office.

  • For negotiating with Russia? It makes sense, they're an actual ally of Russia's that they rely on. We can waggle our finger at them all we'd like, & they could do the same to us, but that doesn't mean much. If China has something to say on the matter, however, their words would carry more weight.

Also, as others have pointed out, Beijing has been making lots of moves to become a key negotiator in places where America (or the west at-large) have failed (or are otherwise unable) to step in.

  • They're happy to do it in their own nations, too, it's just harder to get away with on home-turf.

  • Well, they're all humans from Earth, so it makes sense that they'd continue to observe their own traditional celebrations. I'm sure the Klingons also have their own holidays, tied to their own calendar, and I don't see any problem with that. Same for every other group.

  • Because they're sexist, that's why. They'd call these woman "unfeminine" for "acting like a man." They believe violence and power are inherently, fundamentally masculine features.

  • Thankfully, her replacement is 38.

  • Did they exceed Warp 10? I thought Paris only hit the limit, not crossed. I'd rewatch to check, but... Then I'd have to watch the Warp 10 episode, and I'm not doing that again.

  • I don't think they're shaved, it's just a lot of the indigenous peoples of the Americas grow little-to-no facial hair to begin with.

  • I think that'd be ok, even with this proposal, as long as you don't sell that LLM for public use. It's fine it I draw a picture of Mickey Mouse in my notebook, but if I try to sell that picture I could get in legal trouble.

  • Oh, for fuck's sake-

  • The Whigs were replaced by the Republicans, who maintained control over the Federal government for nearly the entire remainder of the 19th century, forcing the Democratic party to adopt progressive policies to survive.

This is what we want, for the current Democratic Party to be replaced by a new, progressive organization, which can actually fight for us, and implement desperately-needed reforms.

  • It's sort of like the false vacuum. YouTube commenters are finding new ways to make the comment section even worse, and it'll spread and decay to that lower level, until they find another way to be even worse.

  • If he does somehow get a 2nd term, I wouldn't expect it to be much more than a figurehead position, even more than this coming term will be. He never liked the job of President, only the trappings of power and the freedom from consequences the office granted him. Now that he's been reelected, and the GOP consolidated around himself and his family, there's really not a lot he has to personally worry about, besides playing king and enacting revenge.
