AuDHD ♾️ Queer 💜 FOSS enthusiast 👩‍💻 anarcho-trotskiest 🏴🛠️ (actually just an antisectarian ecosocialist who is naive enough to believe in socialist unity)

  • Sick of the reporting on situations like this highlighting the fact a person is Jewish over the fact they are an Israeli or a Zionist. It contributes greatly to the idea that it is Jewish people as a whole and not specifically Zionists that are spreading this hatred. Heck "notorious Islamaphobe" is probably way more relevant than the fact he happens to be Jewish.

  • box for f is wrong in second image. f always has an ascender and sometimes has a descender but is drawn with just a descender box

  • Exceptional. Better than most native writers. Only suggestion is that the ascenders and descenders (the bits that go above and below the lines in letters like l, p, b, d etc.) should be larger, aim for roughly 2/3 taller than a letter like x or o. f, and t ascend slightly less, about 1/3 taller than an x or o.

  • Why was a study needed for this? That's just how tarrifs work...

  • Just because yanks don't know anything left of their centre-right democratic party doesn't mean that liberalism is suddenly leftist...

Edit: sorry, should have read closer. You aren't american but are accusing Americans of changing the meaning, whilst spouting the american usage of the word? It doesn't make sense. Why accuse Americans of changing the meaning of the word liberal when you are clearly using the american meaning in the previous sentence?

  • It might be left by American standards where you are a leftist for supporting a center-right party like the American Democrats

  • Lemmy.World is a liberal outcropping in an otherwise leftist community. It is probably the last instance I would label as "authentically leftist".

  • www as in www.website.tld means "world wide web". Double-U double-U double-U uses 9 syllables when world wide web uses 3

    • PRN is an abbreviation of a Latin phrase "pro re nata".
    • ASA is acetylsalicylic acid which is the chemical name for aspirin
    • PT is a specific type of blood test that measures how long it takes for blood to clot called "prothrombin time"
    • BID comes from another Latin phrase "bis in die". TID is 3 times and QID is 4 times a day
    • BS can also mean blood sugar
    • c̅ is basically equivelant to w/ meaning with but it comes from the Latin "cum"
  • Is gravity something new or did it exist before Newton described it?

  • United States of America, Great Britain, and Northern Ireland

  • Fuck, this reminded me to check when my appointment was and it was yesterday

  • Now that you've mentioned calendar I'm guessing it is the one with 31 on it? Honestly didn't know what it was at first glance, thought it was maybe something to do with window management as it sorta looks like a browser window or something. Still don't know how it is supposed to look like a calendar other than it having a 31 on it

  • Design brief: Make them look like the google suite but purple. The harder it is to work out what the app does from the logo, the better.

  • I've seen them sold in 3 packs as "traffic light capsicums" with a red, green and yellow one. I would have written the showerthought the other way around though as all traffic light colours (red, amber/yellow, and green) are possible capsicum colours but not all capsicum colours are represented in traffic lights (purple, orange, white etc.)

  • I know one family that did this, but yeh, far from common

  • Judge hands Lambo.com to Lamborghini after ruling owner acted in bad faith

  • Don't have much sympathy for this person but no company has any more right to a domain name than any of us and this sets a scary precedence.
